Security Measures
Library- Freeflow time will be unlocked, but locked while classes are in session. Students need to enter from the 'in" door on the 1st grade side. The out door will be kept locked. Amanda please reshare your schedule with staff.
Custodians will only come into rooms with while students are out of the classroom. Doors are to be left open when no one is in there so they will know to go in and clean. I am resending them a schedule.
Classroom doors left open when students are in activity, lunch, & recess. That way students who get checked out from activity can go back to their classroom to get their backpacks and materials.
Teachers need to be aggressive about seeking out visitors who do not have a badge or identification on. Seek them out. Do not wait to buzz the office. Roll play with a friend how you will approach the unknown adult. I am happy to come down to you and help with the situation, however do not wait until I get there. It takes all of us to keep us safe.
Buzz in systems will be installed on our school. A camera will be outside that will let the office see who is out there. We will buzz them in. I expect this to take place some time after spring break or sooner. Front doors will be locked at 8:00 am once the system is put into place. The district is trying to step up security when it comes to visitor management. This will help us with security in regards to the cafeteria.
A few of you have asked about master keys for speech, intervention, etc. I know it is disruptive to send someone to the door, but I assure you, it is just as disruptive for a key to wiggle in-unlock it- lock it back and enter.... trust me all eyes were pointed my direction. So...work out what works best for you. A door opener etc. It will stink at first, but I think they will adjust quickly.
Dr. T talked about increasing SRO's and security. This is a goal they are working on, but they stressed the importance of getting the right people for this. I think our board and Dr. T have plans in place to really step up security for everyone. I am glad to see them moving in this direction for us and for our kids.

One Book, One School
Our book is off to a great start. Continue to promote reading!
AMI Work take 4
If students return AMI work late, we are still going to take it. Just let Candy know.
Students have 5 school days to return the packets. That means we should have them returned on or by March 2nd. Teachers are responsible for grading and letting Candy know on the 2nd who didn't return their work. We will take them passed that date, but we will quit reminding them at that point.
PLC's
Phonics First and SUBS
If you are sick, please enter it in as soon as you can. I know sometimes things happen last minute, but the possibility of getting a sub is slim. We have had many openings this past week. With everyone being sick and PD going on, everyone across the district have been short. So if you can help us with that we would appreciate it.
EdReflect Homework
Looking over the TESS rubric of Domains 1 & 4 we need 4-5 artifacts that will cover those areas. I would do 2-3 artifacts for Domain 1 and 2-3 for Domain 4.
So what could we use for Domain 1: planning and preparation?
A good lesson plan, a common assessment that you created, instructional groups and good plan/ activity that you did with them. These are just examples.
So what could we use for Domain 4:Professional Responsibilities?
- Copy of a pd attendance sheet
- Notes from a PLC meeting/ team meeting
- Newsletter home
Again these are only suggestions.
So WHO needs to upload these on the additional artifact setting? EVERYONE that is a certified teacher.
If you upload to an observation- I CAN'T see them. They have to be on the ADDITIONAL ARTIFACT button. I don't want you to have to do it twice, so I am trying to save you the trouble.
This isn't due this month, but it seems to get busier as we go on, so I wanted to remind you now.
If you have any questions, please come see me.
