3/31 PLC engagement strategies
Some of the strategies we discussed.
Socratic Wingman/Fishbowl.-this was the activity where we partnered up and the speaker sat in the circle and the writer stood behind his partner.
Vocabulary Round/campfire- this was when we walked around and wrote on the vocabulary sheets while the music played. Students are able to write a word it reminds them of, write a definition, a picture or add on to what someone else wrote. After we sat together and shared one of the vocabulary words.
4 Corners- this was when I asked a question and you guys stood by one of the charts and were able to discuss with their team why they chose that chart. Then teacher has one person contribute.
Categories- this was one for the lower levels, students are given word cards/picture cards and they had to categorize their cards by moving to the category title and discuss how or why they all belong to that category. (animal habitats, different animals, animal adaptations.
"I have who has?" cards-these are domino like cards with one image, word, or letter on one side and different one on the other side. One student has the card and they say " I have a yellow oval, who has a red star?" then the student with the red star says "I have a red star, who has a blue square?"
Matching Pairs- this strategy is good to use with vocabulary, Have the definition or picture on one card and the word on another card. Students have to match up with their partner and discuss how the pieces go together. Great as a start to a science or math lesson.
Maple Lawn STAFF/ STUDENT soccer game
I will probably start the game out by welcoming everyone and thanking the donors. If you are coming to cheer us on you may wear your Maple Lawn spirit shirt, but lets refrain from jeans. We will have Trustee Solis, Councilman Medrano, the CEO and DIrector of Smart City (donors) in addition to Dallas ISD communications dept and Dr. Valadez.
Our Maple Lawn Cheerleaders will also be present. This should be lots of fun!
