Principal's Letter for May 2022
The focus for May will be CAASPP testing. The students and teachers are ready, and Santa Rosa will perform well once again. We are also excited about the return of Open House. Even though it is not as extensive as in previous years, we will have some PTO activities happening in conjunction with the event. We hope to have family bingo, our used book sale, and an ASB dance party
The focus on instruction and academic success continue at SRTMS. First, we had 95% of all our middle school students earn at least a 3.0 GPA, and a high percentage of those students earned a 4.0 for Trimester II. The teachers continue to teach the standards and expand the use of student self-tracking of standards in class. Second, we completed our three years commitment to professional learning through the CAPS network. SRTMS will continue to refine its use of Professional Learning Communities into next year. Lastly, our diversity book committee will submit their researched book list, so SRTMS will have a more inclusive book selection in all classrooms.
The middle school students will have their last dance of the year on May 13. It will be nice to see the students having so much fun. We were pleased to bring the dances back this year.
SRTMS looks forward to promoting wellness and participating in various athletic events. We will have a small but mighty team for the PVSD kickball tournament and for the Hap Rapp Rotary Track Meet. Both events will be a great chance to show off our Eagle Pride.
As the year winds down, we will begin to set the stage for next year. The Leadership Team and School Site Council have already begun preliminary work on school goals for the 2022-2023 school year. We will also give parents the chance to fill out a student characteristic form, so we can better match students learning styles with different teaching styles within each grade level.
