Marysville Message

Friday September 24,2021

Dear Marysville Families

We are sorry that we could not host an in person Open House this Fall. We will definitely enjoy being all together this Spring.

In the meantime we have put together a document with links to classroom welcome videos and information about all of the programs and resources offered at Marysville.

Marysville Back To School Night Document

Some links may still need to be updated, but this document will live on our website, so you can access it throughout the school year.

Thank you for taking the time to view these presentations.

Please reach out to us with any questions or suggestions. We are here for You!

Warmly,

Cathy Murray and Serene Bertram

Opt-in COVID Screening Information

Marysville has the opportunity to participate in a free COVID-19 screening testing program in partnership with Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU).

Today, your student(s) will bring home a packet with information about the program and consent forms from OHSU and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). Participation is voluntary.

If you wish to participate in this free weekly COVID-19 screening testing program, return a signed copy of both of the opt-ins provided to your child. Even if you have already filled out one testing consent form, we need both again for this program!

Please review the packet your child brings home for more information.

Forms can also be accessed below.

Please note that both the OHSU and OHA Opt-In Forms are required.

Please return the forms as soon as possible if you are interested in participating

If I enroll my child in this testing program, what should I expect?

  1. Families who wish to participate in the testing program must fill out the consent forms and health authorization forms sent with your child or print, sign, and return the forms using the links above.
  2. Our school will receive testing kits and labels to send home on Wednesday afternoon. These will contain a small vial for your student to deposit saliva. It is very important to remember that students should not have eaten or drank anything (other than water), or brushed teeth, for 30 minutes before the saliva collection.
  3. We ask you that every week on Thursday, your student spit into the test tube. We encourage you to watch this 4 minute video on how easy it is to collect a spit sample.
  4. Please return the spit samples that same Thursday morning. Drop boxes will be located near the front office. Samples will be collected by OHSU on Thursday for transportation to the lab for testing.
  5. OHSU will share the results within 48 hours of the specimen being dropped off at school. You will receive a secure email with your child's results. Please be sure the primary email addresses are updated and you have the correct email address noted that you wish results to go to.
  6. Please note: PPS will not receive the results of your student’s test.

If it is a positive (or inconclusive) result, we ask that you keep your student home from school. Please call us immediately and we will follow the guidance provided by our partners at the Multnomah Health Department.

Community Testing Center Resources

1. Contact your pediatrician; they may require a virtual visit (which may include a co-pay) prior to scheduling a test, but this is often the easiest and quickest way to access a test and to get results.

2. If symptomatic and/or identified as a close contact, there are appointments available at Multnomah County Testing Resources. No walk-in or surveillance testing. Community sites use a rapid test that is most accurate within 7 days of the start of symptoms, or 3 – 5 days after being exposed to someone else. Call 503-988-8939 for an appointment at any of these sites or for more information.

3. School Based Health Centers are accepting appointments for people ages 5-18 focusing on symptomatic/identified close contacts. No out of pocket cost. Guardian consent is required for anyone under 14. Follow the locations and hours link to find the closest location and hours of each site. Here is when their weekly vaccine clinics are.

4. For walk-in or appointments for rapid and PCR tests, curative.com may have a location/time convenient for you.

5. I've heard great feedback, especially for kid testing, from people who got tested at Brave Care. If your child is anxious or hesitant to test, this may be worth exploring.

6. For general testing information and a broader list of testing sites, check out Oregon Health Authority Testing Resources.

7. Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp also offer free, drive-up, PCR Covid-19 tests.

Marysville Quarantine Instruction Plan

Dear Marysville Student and Family,

We are so happy we can connect with your child virtually! Here is how to prepare for at-home learning and connect with us via Google Meet and Seesaw.

Our goal is to continue to provide an adequate and uninterrupted education to our students to the greatest extent possible. Daily Math and ELA activities will be posted to your child’s Seesaw class. Students will also spend time each day on STMath and Lexia. Grade level specific paper packets will also be available.

Your child will engage in learning asynchronously and synchronously via Google with academic checkins provided by our support teacher, Heather Robertson and TechSmart Coach, Sarita Flores.

The district also has a Quarantine Learning Modules Website that will offer modules and resources for continued student learning and enrichment.
