Class Placement

As you know, it was our intention to release class placements on May 7th. However, there are still some changes that may occur with staffing and the number of classes in each grade level due to the boundary changes and enrollments.

We will be sure to communicate class placements as soon as we are able. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Big picture

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Join the Staff Appreciation Committee and show our teachers and staff some love!

  • We invite students and families to come by Bristol and "chalk the walk" starting Sunday, and continuing through the week (especially if it rains)! Write a positive message, mention a favorite teacher or staff member, draw a picture, etc. Help us keep it up through the week! We will put some chalk in the front and back, but bring your own if you have some, just in case. Don't forget the sidewalks in back of the school and the parking areas! Let's fill the pavement with positive messages for our awesome Bristol teachers and staff!
  • Throughout the week we have treats planned for teachers and staff. On Thursday we encourage students to consider something their class might like to do to recognize teachers and staff, for example: Having students write a note or draw a picture, write them a poem, bring a flower from their yard; having virtual students email the teacher, hold up a sign they made on camera, or make a short video; make a class top ten list of reasons your teacher is great; make a posterboard sign for your class door, etc.

Thank you for helping us make this week special for our wonderful Bristol teachers and staff!

Information below is repeated from previous bulletins.

Special Announcement

Dear Bristol Parents & Caregivers,

It is with great pleasure that I write to you today with news regarding our Assistant Principal, Dr. Hannah Peterson. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Peterson, who has been selected to be the new Principal at our neighboring Avery Elementary beginning with the 2021-2022 school year.

We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Peterson’s time here at Bristol and are very excited both for her and the Avery community at this exciting time. We will certainly miss Dr. Peterson's leadership here, and we will begin our search for another Assistant Principal in the days ahead.

As always, thank you for your kindness and support!

Information from WGSD regarding MAP and EOC Testing

In the Webster Groves School District, we have a balanced approach to assessments, which includes state-level required testing. The State of Missouri and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) have set the guidelines for assessments this year, which include in-person testing for all students in grades 3-8 and for End of Course (EOC) exams at the middle and high school levels. The Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) helps gauge district, school, and individual student performance on state standards and grade-level expectations. As you may recall, MAP (and EOC) testing was canceled last year. Therefore, the last state data we have from assessments is now two years old. This is an opportunity to capture an accurate assessment of where students are at and DESE has indicated that they do plan to release individual student scores for parents. The results will not affect a student's grades nor their permanent records.

It is important to note that the state has included all virtual students in their guidelines and requires that virtual students take the tests in person in a proctored environment. In the next few weeks and following spring break, individual schools will be contacting virtual families with options for when their student can come to school to test if they are in a grade or class that requires testing.

Some important information to keep in mind regarding testing:

  • All virtual students will be provided options from their school for attending a testing session. These options will vary by school, so please watch for that communication in the coming weeks.

  • We will continue to follow the safety measures included within our Return to School 20-21 Plan in our school buildings to keep students as safe as possible.

    • All students and staff will be required to wear a mask while at school and testing.

    • Hand sanitizer will be on hand for student and staff use.

    • Appropriate distancing measures will be in place in the testing environment.

  • MAP Testing Windows (Grades 3-8):

    • April 5th - May 28th

  • High School EOCs (English 2, Algebra 2, Biology, Algebra 1, Government):

    • The high school is already in the process of communicating with families regarding testing options.

We support DESE’s efforts to assess students and enhance their education and we encourage all virtual students whose class(es) are testing to attend a testing session. If your virtual student is in a class that will be testing, you will be notified by your school as to your in-person options for testing.

Thank you for your continued flexibility and understanding as we work together to do our very best for all students.

More details regarding state assessments will be sent from us here at Bristol in the next week or two.

A Very Important Health Reminder

Students must not come to school if:

  • The student tested positive for COVID-19 over break and is presently in isolation and yet to be released by a physician

  • The student is in quarantine due to exposure to COVID-19 over break and yet to be released by a physician

  • The student is awaiting the results of COVID-19 testing

  • Someone in the student’s householdhas COVID-19-related symptoms and is awaiting the result of testing

  • The student has a fever (greater than 100.4) or hasn’t been fever-free for at least 24 hours, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, sore throat, headache, body aches, cough, difficulty breathing and/or loss of taste/smell.

Dismissal Announcement

A friendly reminder to please create a paper with your child's name and grade level. Make this paper visible for our staff to see. If you have grandparents or other designated people picking students up, please ensure they also have a paper with student's names.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders

  • A-L families; please do not let students out of your car in the morning before the stop sign.
  • If possible, please stay in your vehicle. Staff can assist our younger students in getting out of the vehicle.

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

  • Webster Groves Police Department as asked us to remind families that to enter the Gore Parking Lot, you must turn LEFT. To exit the Gore Parking Lot, you must turn RIGHT.
  • Student Drop Off Families-please make sure your child's mask is on before you pull up to one of our drop off zones.
  • Student Drop Off Families-students must exit on the passenger side of the car; it creates a safety issue if they exit the vehicle on the drivers side of the car.
  • Walkers/Bike Riders: please make sure the entire family (children 2 and under are exempt) is masked on Bristol's campus; the best examples of mask wearing are the adult caregivers in the family. Thank you for wearing your masks on Bristol's campus.

Please see the below graphics and click here for our new arrival and dismissal procedures.

Attendance Reminder

Please remember to let your student’s teacher as well as the office know if they will be missing from in school or vitual learning.
