First Day of School Reminders
- Students will enter through grade level doors (parents will not enter at this time so please use August 17th to drop off supplies and tour the school)
- Grade level doors : Door 1- 4th, Door 2-3rd, Door 3-2nd, Door 4-5th
- Dismissal is 1:45 PM
Double check to make sure your child has:
- extra masks (a reminder from the nurse to wash cloth masks before reusing)
- water bottle with name (can be refilled at school)
- school supplies

*To qualify for transportation, a student must live more than 1.5 miles from their school or have a hazardous route to school.

Manning is Growing!
Our enrollment has increased this school year! Here is a break down of each grade level and average class size. Grade Level centers have helped to keep class sizes equitable and allow for proper social distancing at both schools.
Total enrollment - 402 students
2nd Grade - 96 students (class avg. = 19)
3rd Grade - 110 students (class avg. =19 )
4th Grade - 87 students (class avg. = 22)
5th Grade - 109 students (class avg. = 22 )

PLEASE NOTE - Classes are still being finalized so homeroom teachers will not be posted until Monday evening.There are still shifts occurring over the weekend as we make sure our classes are balanced

Homerooms will be posted in Skyward no later than Monday, August 16th by 5 pm. Try not to spoil the surprise for kids before Tuesday's event.

4th graders will travel among teachers (ELA, Math, and Social Science/Science with their homeroom cohort).

Students will have assigned lockers. We are working on how to safely utilize them so that there is not crowding in the hallway.
Arrival/ Dismissals Quick Guide:
8:00 - 8:15 AM - Arrival
2:45 PM - Regular dismissal
1:45 PM - Wednesday (PLC) dismissal
11:30 AM (no lunch served) - SIP Days/Parent Teacher Conference Thursdays
Arrival:
- Doors open at 8:00 AM (if your child does not eat breakfast at the school, there is no rush to enter the building before 8:15 AM)
- Students will enter through their grade level doors (listed below)
- Students will go to the cafeteria if eating breakfast
- Students not eating school breakfast will head to a designated location in the building to sit and wait until 8:15 AM. In order to keep social distancing, students will be seated in the gym and hallways while waiting
- 8:15 bell rings for students to enter their classrooms
Dismissal
- The bell rings at 2:45/1:45/11:30 depending on the schedule.
- Walkers will exit through their grade level doors
- Bussers will be directed to the gym to wait for loading
- Car line students will be directed to the cafeteria where they will wait for their name/# to be called
For parents:
- Parents of walkers can pick up students at their grade level doors. Remember that animals are not allowed on school grounds.
- Parents in car line will be directed to a number station where their child will come to. You will receive a pink sign with your car line # after the first couple of days.
For anyone parking
- There is no parking on Linden Street during the school day.
- We have spots available in the alley along the fence of our field.
- You can also park on Linden, south of Norfolk.
- If driving in the alley, please be mindful of our business neighbors and do not drive through as a shortcut.
Lunch:
Students eat lunch at the designated times below.
4th - 11:15-11:35 (recess after)
5th - 11:35-11:55 (recess before)
2nd - 12:00 - 12:20 (recess after)
3rd - 12:20 - 12:40 (recess before)
Students will be seated in the gym to keep social distancing in place.
All students have access to free lunch this year. A menu is posted online and students will place their orders when they arrive in their homerooms.
Snacks
Each grade level has a snack time built into their daily schedule.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are the only acceptable items for snack (guidelines)
Recess/Mask Breaks:
- Students have about 20 minutes of recess during their lunch break
- Students have one additional recess/mask break during the day
- Teachers can build in additional breaks as needed.
