Hawk Talk with Principal Hammond
The next scheduled Hawk Talk with Principal Hammond will be on
Monday, January 23rd at 9:30 am and again at 5:30 pm! Concerns, questions, ideas, suggestions......bring them with you and let's have a chat. We want parents to know they're voices are heard and appreciated!! Come join us!!

- TIME: 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

School success goes hand in hand with good attendance! Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Start building this habit as early as possible so they learn right away that going to school on time and being present every day is important. Good attendance will help children do well in high school, college, and at work...Attendance Matters!
A student who arrives late to school is counted as present for the day. Being at school on time is important, but it is always better to come to school late than to miss the whole day.
An absence is an absence. Having a note (appointment, meeting, planned trips, etc.) does not excuse your child being absent from school. When students miss extended days of school they can quickly fall behind in their learning. Students can still fall behind if they miss just a day or two every few weeks.
This is why, at Orchard Hill, we’ve created an attendance incentive system!!
- We will have an attendance bulletin board where students who have a 90% attendance rate or higher will be able to sign the board in the school entrance hallway every month!
- We will give students who have 90% attendance or higher for the month an attendance certificate and “smarties” signed by the Principal Mr. Hammond.
- If you have any barriers that are preventing your child from attending school daily, or need access to resources in the area, please let us know. We're happy to work with you and help you out!

Feb 20 - NO SCHOOL, President's Day Holiday
FAMILY BINGO NIGHT - FEBRUARY 10TH
We're bringing it back! One of our more popular family events is coming back this year. Join us on Friday, February 10th.
5:30 - 6 pm: Food & Bingo cards available for purchase
6:00 - 7:30 pm: Bingo begins!
We have gathered so many great prizes, baskets and gift certificates! Bingo cards are 4 cards for $10 or $3 per card. Pre-buy your bingo cards to avoid the lines. We will also have a raffle! So far, raffle items include gift certificates from:
- Human Bean
- Wildlife Safari
- Paddington Station
- Clyde's Corner
- Ashland Springs Hotel
- The Britt Fest
- Harry and David
- Dr. West $1,000 credit towards orthodontics and more!!!!
CHOIR AT ORCHARD HILL BEGINS FEBRUARY 7TH
We are looking to start choir! This is an extracurricular activity. We will have choir rehearsals on Tuesdays after school from 2:30-3:30. Permission slips will be sent home next week with your student in their backpack. Please read the instructions carefully and return it to the school if you would like your student to participate.
MT. ASHLAND YOUTH SKI PROGRAM
Registration for Mt. Ashland's Youth Program opened on January 13th, click
HERE. Program dates for our district are February 17th, February 24th, March 3rd and March 10th. Transportation is provided from Talent Elementary, leaving the parking lot promptly at 4:15 p.m. Guardians wishing to volunteer can reach out to our district coordinator

22-23 ORCHARD HILL YEARBOOK

We are excited to be partnering with a new yearbook company this year. Treering Yearbook will be printing the 22-23 yearbook for Orchard Hill. Every family that purchases a yearbook for their student will be able to create two completely
personalized pages for your student! This means that pictures you've taken this year to document your student's school year can be uploaded by YOU and printed in your student's book!
We are also offering two different pricing options. A softcover book will be $12 and a hardcover book will be $17.42. Online payments are preferred!
Did you know that ALL meals at Orchard Hill Elementary are FREE? Students may eat breakfast and lunch in our cafeteria at no cost. Menus are available on our district website. For your convenience, click
