A Grateful Heart

A Grateful Heart by Jasmine Mizola, Class of 2024
BEGIN EACH DAY WITH A GRATEFUL HEART
I give thanks to my God at every remembrance of you,
praying always with joy in my every prayer for all of you,
because of your partnership for the gospel from the first day until now.
And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more
in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value,
so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ
for the glory and praise of God.
~From Saint Paul’s Letter to the Philippians, Ch. 1:1-5, 9-11
Dear Saint Clare School Families,
Many thanks to those who took time to be present at A Cup with the Principal, the State of the School. The slide deck and recording have been posted to keep all of you informed. Please take your time in viewing them, and be welcome to email me if you have any questions.
I have sent invitations to community members to join the Strategic Planning Committee which will begin their important work on November 2nd. Consultants from the Meitler Group will be on site to meet to get to know our school better. I am grateful to those who said yes. They will become very intimate with our reality and will collaborate to give us a road map for the years to come. We all know that Saint Clare is a very special community and we all want to ensure that we are able to provide access to impactful and transformative Catholic education for those who desire it.
CONFERENCE WEEK COMING UP! 12:30 dismissal ALL WEEK
Our teachers posted Conference Week sign ups. Please be sure you sign up by Wednesday so that they can plan accordingly. Conferences will be going on after school on Monday through Thursday. On Friday after school, our faculty and staff will meet to collaborate. CKZ will be available after school all week.
Remember that you have just 20 minutes to share information about your child’s progress. However, know that our teachers encourage you to schedule additional time if the conversation should continue.
You will see a post and receive an attachment to your direct message in ParentSquare with your child(ren)’s Star Family Report. Mrs. Kogura will provide the information surrounding what the report contains, keeping in mind that the result is a small snapshot of your child’s learning progression. It is a way for you and for your child’s teacher to determine the path that will best prepare them for the next steps. Keep this in mind as you view your child’s progress.
Focus conferences around your child’s progress towards their faith formation, their social-emotional development, and of course, their academic growth. With a multi-tiered system of support, our intention is to provide the resources to help students thrive and succeed. Your role as partners is critical in this endeavor. It could be as simple as reading with and to your child for 30 minutes every day, or it could be advocating for your child with other educational and medical professionals. If we keep to our mission of forming students who practice habits of the mind, heart, and spirit, we would have children of God ready for high school, college, and beyond to transform the world.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS | BLESSING OF THE LAUDATO SI’ MURAL
Tuesday, October 4th is Saint Francis’ feast. Join us at 11:45 A.M. in the Middle School “Friendship Breezeway” for the blessing of the Laudato Si’ mural created by art teacher Vaneysha Hicks. The mural blessing will be followed by the Blessing of the Animals. We invite you to bring furry friends, and all sort of animal family members for a blessing. If “live” pets are not available, have students bring a representation of their animals (pictures, stuffed animals are acceptable). We will gather with Msgr. Fran and student ambassadors for a prayer service before dismissal at 12:30P.
In addition, the Mission and Catholic Identity Committee of the School Advisory Council will
We hope to see many of you there!
WCEA SELF STUDY UPDATE
Now that we have completed our review and revision of our Mission Statement and our Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLEs), our faculty and staff are deep in the work of the Self Study. First drafts were submitted for Chapter 3A-D this week focusing on Catholic Identity, the School’s Purpose, Organization for Student Learning, and Data Analysis and Action. We will continue to look at data to inform our reality. Students in grades 4 to 8 completed a survey regarding their experience in the classroom and as members of the Saint Clare School community.
In a few weeks, our faculty and staff will identify areas of strength and areas of growth, getting us closer to creating an Action Plan. We have scheduled a Pre-Visit with our accreditation chair and team on February 9, 2023. Our visit dates are March 15-17, 2023. We look forward to affirming our commitment to our mission and we are grateful for the external insight that the visit will provide. Stay tuned to learn more about the results of the Self Study.

HVAC UPDATES
Learning from this, we are starting the process for the elementary building now with a proposal to the Diocesan Building Committee to approve the vendor. When that is completed, plans will be drawn and we will begin the ordering of equipment and permitting process, knowing the electrical upgrade will be significant in cost and construction. My earnest hope is that we will complete the HVAC upgrade in the summer of 2023, sooner if all goes well.
I appreciate your understanding of the scope of this work and the amount of time, money, and effort it requires, while running a school and all that entails. If you can help in any way by way of a donation, a grant, or insight with City permits, I welcome your input.
