Math
Hello from the math department.
All math students should be able to connect to Khan Academy. This site will allow students to practice skills that each individual student needs to practice. This site monitors the level of each student, shows videos on how to work specific math problems, and allows practice time on these problems.
All math students that are taking math 6, math 7 or pre-algebra are also able to access Mathia. Mathia is a site that allows practice of the content being taught in the classroom. THe problems on Mathia are similar to the questions that are asked in class and that appear on the test at the end of each topic. Practicing on Mathia will aid in understanding the math being taught in the classrooms.
Math 6 is currently studying factors and multiples, multiplying and dividing with mixed numbers and fractions, and understanding the volume of rectangular prisms.
Math 7 is identifying proportional relationships from graphs, tables and equations.
Math 8 just completed the unit on dilations of figures. These students are beginning a unit on angles and angle relationships, learning about the line of intersection and corresponding congruent angles.
Algebra students are finishing a unit on linear functions. They are working with the absolute value linear functions.
Geometry students are analyzing linear equations in the coordinate plane.
Riddle: Five siblings share $250 such that each child except the youngest gets $12.50 more than the sibling born immediately after. How much does the youngest child get?
If you can figure out the solution to the riddle, please see Mrs. Wapneski in room 808 for a treat for her candy dish.
Have fun!
