Message from the Principal
In working in partnership with the school and your student, it is important when parents are involved in their child’s education. That’s why attending parent-teacher conferences is so important: it’s a great way for parents to become involved and stay involved throughout the school year. Parent-Teacher conferences are a good way to speak with your child’s teacher about academic performance. , ask questions, or for you to share important information about your child . If you have questions or observations, the conference is a good time to share them with the teacher. Don’t forget to share what you know about your child. Your information helps the teacher better understand and teach your child. If you know what is expected in the classroom, you can more easily address any issue that comes up as your child moves through the school year. Additionally, I would like to wish you all a safe, healthy, and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Coffee With the Principal
If you are interested in attending "Coffee with the Principal" it takes place every week virtually. It is a time for parents to learn about upcoming school events and get important school updates directly from the principal, Dr. Cortez.
Coffee with the Principal is EVERY Thursday from 10:00am-10:15am in English, and 10:15am-10:30am in Spanish.
You can join at that time by using this Zoom link:

Counselor Connection
I’m Mrs. Singh, IHCS school counselor. Let's talk about feelings. We all feel different emotions throughout our day and sometimes more than one emotion at the same time. All feelings are normal. They are neither bad nor good. What matters is, what we choose to do when we are feeling our emotions. We might be very angry and feel like screaming or hitting someone. If you notice your feeling this way and stop yourself so that you can calm down, you will be able to avoid doing something that may hurt you or someone else. This is called managing emotions. Not everyone knows how to do this. For that reason I work with students and help them manage their emotions so they can be successful in class and life. We learn about the “Zones of Regulation”, that help students learn about emotions, how to understand their feelings, and tools to help them make good choices no matter what they are feeling. If you think your student will benefit from working with me, just let their teacher know.
