WES 1st Grade

Mrs. Williams & Mrs. Shore's Class News 11/2-11/6

Hello 1st Grade Friends!

This month we are reminded to be thankful for all that we have.

I am so THANKFUL for my first grade friends & families!

This week I will begin holding conferences to discuss your child's progress so far this year and answer any questions that you may have.

Please use the link below to sign up for a time to ZOOM with me, or we can have a phone conference if that works better for you.

I have scheduled times for our teacher workday this week, Tuesday, November 3rd. If this date does not work for you, or you do not see a time that will work for you, please let me know and we will work out another time to conference!

I look forward to meeting with each of you!

Daily Reminders:

*Please bring your charged Chromebook, charger, and case daily.

*Remember to bring your water bottle, we cannot use water fountains at this time.

*You may send a healthy snack for your child to enjoy during afternoon snack!

*Don't forget to have your cloth face covering and your attestation form ready each morning when you catch the bus or come through carline. We will send new attestation forms home in the green folders each Friday.

"I CAN" Learning Statements for the Week

Phonics: I can decode words with "s-blends."

I can blend sounds to make words.

Reading: I can describe characters, setting, and major events in a story using key details and illustrations. I can read at a good speed and understand what I read.

I count and write numbers to 120.

Health: I can tell about my emotions.

Social Studies: I can tell about Veteran's Day and why we celebrate it.

What are you reading about today?

Reading is one of the best ways to help us grow as learners.

Be sure to make time for reading every day. We will send home a new book with your child every night. Please take time to read this book with your child and ask them questions about the story. Rereading a book is a great way to build reading fluency. You can use the Daily Reading Log below to tell me about it! Happy reading friends!
