Weekly Message
Dear Raleigh Hills Families,
This week marked our first week of Autumn. Looking ahead to the month of October, we have so much learning and special events in the horizon. This Tuesday is picture day. Next week, our 6th graders will go to Outdoor School. Our first parent coffee is Monday, October 7th - please join us! Our Lap-a-thon is scheduled for all day on October 10th. The new track looks amazing and will be opened at the Carnival this evening.
This week we want to share with you about PRIDE, our school-wide positive behavior word. The messaging around Raleigh Hills students exhibiting PRIDE is used frequently to reinforce the behaviors and characteristics that we are all striving towards. Teachers spend time reinforcing what these behaviors look like, actions students show, and words used by all when showing PRIDE.
At the Middle School Back to School Night, teen self-sufficiency was a topic of conversation in the large group gathering as well as in all the classroom break out sessions. These four tips are important reminders for all of us when coaching our young adults.
1) Don't be afraid of failure
2) Encourage problem solving
3) Let go of perfection
4) Try to find balance
Below you will also find more information about math at Raleigh Hills and in the Beaverton School District.
Thank you for partnering with us!
Best regards,
Jennifer and Lindsay

OBOB is a statewide reading program for students in 3rd-12 grades. The program's mission is "to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, to increase reading comprehension, promote academic excellence, and to promote cooperative learning and teamwork among students. At RH, Mrs. Moore, our librarian, has already been preparing students and our library collection. Here's the update.
ELEMENTARY
Book titles and the OBOB program has been shared with 4th and 5th grades.Teams will be firmed up in October. Links for OBOB practice sessions that occur at the public libraries and links for practice questions created by OBOB enthusiasts and available online will be shared.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Some of the titles are teachers' classrooms for book groups. RH can assemble a middle school team and send them to regionals in March without having a battle at the school.
