Aiming to Keep You Informed
November 30, 2018
From the Office
This week 6th graders came back after Thanksgiving Break and a snow day, to their Museum of Science and Industry field trip! They had a great time learning and exploring!
Winter MAP testing will be held next week. There will not be a change to the regular schedule and lunch will occur at the normal times. Please encourage your students to come to school each day with a fully charged Chromebook.
Innovation Night: You will soon begin to hear your students talking about their Innovation Night projects. Last year we piloted a "Genius Hour" through Acceleration; this year we are going to build on that experience and students will be able to choose a problem or question they are interested and passionate about, research it and create or propose solutions. This will be a longer project and the culmination will replace our traditional "Portfolio Night" from years past. Portfolios will still be curated and students can share them with parents at home.
During Innovation Night students will share their project with parents, family, and community members. Attendees will be invited in to walk around, listen to student presentations and ask them questions! The tentative date for Innovation Night at Westfield is May 16th! We are looking forward to watching students navigate these problems and ideas while learning critical life-long skills!
Have a wonderful weekend,

We really value your feedback and we encourage you to complete the survey by clicking the link above and type in "Dupage" and "Westfield Middle School". Thank you in advance for your time! Students and staff will also be sent a survey link after the break.
