VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY

On November 10th, the Mulready School held their first in-school assembly since COVID. It was to honor those who have served our country at home and abroad. Mrs. Garofalo sang the Star Spangled Banner, students from Mr. Glines class recited to poems, and the chorus sang two songs. Our geust speaker ws Mr. Andy Massa, a former flight pilot in the Navy. We encouraged the children to thank veterans for their service all the time, not just on Veterans Day.

CRASH! THE COLLISION UNIT

The 4th grade each year does a unit on collision. The culminating project is for the students to engineer a car that protects an egg. The key vocabulary that they learned was mass, kinetic energy, potential energy, elastic and nonelastic collisions, and absorption. As each car crashed, these terms were discussed and the students had to reflect in their journals and decide what they could change to make a better car for the egg. It was fun for all watching and cheering the results.

DANFORTH FALLS

The fourth grade class traveled across town to take in the beautiful views of Danforth Falls. They will be starting a new Earth science unit on weathering and erosion and this trip gave them insight into what nature has to offer. They also got to see real-life visuals of the vocabulary they will be discussing. The weather was gorgeous, the kids were well behaved, and the Naturalists were knowledgeable with their insight.

SMALL MOMENTS IN WRITING

Mrs. Murphy's second grade class visited Mrs. Calvanese's third grade class last week. The children joined together to share their small moment stories. It is always nice to see different grade levels work together and help each other become better readers and writers.
