Pee Dee Elementary
Updates from the Principal
January 3, 2021
Happy New Year! I hope that you and your family have enjoyed a lovely Christmas holiday! I also hope that you are healthy. 2020 was a tough one, but I have no doubt that 2021 will bring good things as we learn to rethink "normal."
If your child is an A cohort student, he or she should be ready to log on for live instruction in the morning. If your child is a B cohort student, he or she will need to log in to SeeSaw or Google classroom to see what assignment have been posted for distance learning just like all Fall. The distance learning schedules for each grade are here. Be watching your email for communication from your child's teacher.
There is no doubt that our students have missed a lot of instruction this year. I encourage you to consider some things you can be expecting your children to do at home to give them opportunities to grow.
- Read, read and read. You can request books from our library here. We can contact you and have them ready for pick-up in the front office.
- Use the digital programs that are individualized for your child. This includes: Hatch Ignite for Child Development, Lexia and Freckle for primary and Achieve 3000 and ALEKS for elementary.
- Communicate with your child's teacher. Teachers will appreciate your partnership in helping your child learn.
- Practice some of the oldies but goodies like letter and number identification for CD and Kindergarten. Practice addition, subtraction and multiplication math facts with flashcards for the older students.
I will be at school Mon-Fri from 7:30-4:00 and the office will be open. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email or call. The school number is 843-397-2579. We will work with you anyway we can to help you and your child through this new instructional model.
Blessings and Good Health,
Chris Plowman, principal
