Veterans Day

On November 11, we welcomed Veterans and current military members. We are so thankful for the sacrifice, courage and service of these men and women. It was our privilege to honor them and to help our students understand about the importance of Veterans Day. Amherst Elementary is proud to be a Purple Star school. The Purple Star Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. Jackson Local Schools Backpack Food Program

We are pleased to be able to offer The Backpack Food Program, in partnership with RiverTree Jackson. This is a service for families in the Jackson Local School district with students in K-12. The goal of this program is to send home a variety of easy, ready-to-eat meals and snacks for your child to have over the weekend. There is absolutely no cost to our families to join this program. The bags will be delivered to your child’s school weekly, and sent home with students on the last day of the week that students are in school, usually Fridays.

This program is intended for families whose children are eligible for free/reduced meals. However, we understand some families may not be eligible for the free/reduced meal program, but are still in need of food. If you would like to opt in, please fill out the google form linked below (one for each student). Please know, all information you share with us is kept in the strictest confidence.
