The we actually made it edition: June 18, 2018
So much to love! Zoom in and read. It's worth it.
What You Really Need To Know
But this year was different in a very good way. Your children are a group of quirky, funny, serious, confident, unsure, compliant, resistant, shy, outgoing, focused and unorganized individuals AND they have learned to become a team together. They share, they look out for each other, they advise each other, they appreciate each other. Now that's really saying something for a bunch of 5-7 year olds. They are kind and good and earnest and they've got what it takes to be the change that we all need. So I'm counting on them.
Thank you for giving me the gift of these amazing young people. Their effort, intention, goodness, and care has been a wonder to enjoy this year. We have all grown together. And that's really the whole point of this kindergarten business.
Your summer homework is to READ, of course. And your back to school (what?!) homework is to make sure your child returns to kindergarten to see me. Often. I need them here as friends and mentors to the new crop. And nothing makes my day like seeing my alumni come back all confident and sassy. They will always be welcome in K-C.
Coming Attractions
Um, Summer.
- Play
- Read
- Travel
- Rest a little
- Be happy
All in a days work...
- We celebrated virtually everyone's birthday but mine in the past 3 weeks.
- We had a righteous car wash.
- We cleaned up our classroom and left things as we found them.
- Dang, we are done. What else is there to say?
- And just so you know, my 18 year old son went to the prom, graduated high school, drives a car with some degree of skill, got a summer part-time job, and is going to college this fall. And last week he took in the empty trash barrels without being asked for the very first time in his life. So it actually happens. Don't stop believing. You're doing it right.
Stay in touch!
Write to Mrs. Cohen this summer!
Students can email or send me a regular old letter at my Eliot address.
I promise to write back to you.
The things kids say. For real.
Mrs. Cohen: What was one of your favorite things about kindergarten?
Student 1: Everything.
Student 2: My friends.
Student 3: Summer.
Can I get an Amen?
