St. Finn Barr Weekly Bulletin
Week of January 11th - January 15th
Dear St. Finn Barr Families,
As we enter our second week of 2021, I would like to share the words our students pray at the start of each school day:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
While simple and easy to recite, these words are a powerful reminder of what it looks like to be compassionate children of God. As I reflected on our first week of school and the events that transpired in our nation last week, I am reminded why I am so grateful to work in Catholic education. Each morning I have the unique privilege of beginning my day in prayer, asking God to teach our students, our teachers, and myself to be instruments of peace and reconciliation and builders of unity.
I am humbled that you choose St. Finn Barr Catholic School to partner with you as we prepare the next generation of leaders to be intentional, thoughtful, and caring citizens. We have always witnessed this development, but the past year has allowed us to see even more just how considerate our students are. Thank you for your partnership as we work together to support our students during difficult times and always encourage them to share love and charity with others as we walk with them through these formative years.
We celebrate this every day, but we prepare to recognize what makes Catholic education so special the week of January 31st to February 5th this year as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Please note, we will have a virtual open house this year as well as other special events. More information to come!
Thank you for taking the time to read through our announcements for the week and praying you have a peaceful week ahead.
