IVES/GJSHS Weekly Newsletter

Week of September 17-21

We had a great week last week for GJSHS Homecoming. We had fun with all of the dress-up days. Congratulations to Mackenzie Brown, our 2018 Homecoming Queen and Solai Pomtong, our 2018 Homecoming Princess. The Homecoming Court also featured Freshman Chloe Copeland, Sophomore Madolyn Fitch, and Senior Rylie Botts. Our football team played an amazing game and was victorious against Herlong.

FRC College and Career Fair

GJSHS Juniors and Seniors will be attending FRC's College and Career Fair on Monday, September 17 from 8:20-11:30. Students should dress appropriately for the event.

6th Grade FRED this week!

Our sixth-grade students leave Tuesday for their 4-day FRED (Feather River outdoor ED) in Meadow Valley!

7th Grade Taylorsville Overnight This Week

Our 7th grade students will also be learning about the local landscapes as they spend Wednesday-Friday this week in Taylorsville. See Mr. Farris for more information!

We will be conducting an ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) drill at both IVES and GJSHS on Thursday, September 20. Information was sent home last week with students and teachers have been discussing and preparing students in the event of an armed intruder. Please review with your child the information that was sent home. You may use the link below for another copy.

Send your Box Tops in with students or drop them by the IVES office. The money we receive from the Box Tops goes right back into the classrooms! Thank you for your assistance!

Staff Feature

Our staff feature this week is Ms. Tami Moreno. Tami has been part of the GJSHS staff for many years. This year she is our Title VI (Indian Education) paraprofessional. She will be available during advisory and at other times throughout the day to assist our students who need extra help. She also works as a Special Education paraprofessional. Tami works with students in their regular classrooms and can also be found in Room 401. We appreciate all Tami does to help our GJSHS students be successful!

About Us

Indian Valley Elementary School and Greenville Junior/Senior High School are in beautiful western Plumas County. We serve the students of Indian Valley, which includes the communities of Greenville, Crescent Mills, Taylorsville, and Canyon Dam. We are essentially a K-12 school since we are located on one large campus where we share several facilities.
