Parent Newsletter: September 2020
Thank you for your continued support as we begin our 3rd week of virtual learning. I hope that the start of last week was smoother than before and that most tech issues are now resolved. Throughout the last two weeks I have witnessed incredible efforts amongst students, teachers and parents, thank you for reaching out, for your words of encouragement and for your commitment to the education of our community.
As mentioned, Northside continues to work with San Antonio Metro Health to monitor the local COVID-19 data. Using a methodical and tiered approach the intention is to bring back small groups of students in phases, starting with those students who have the greatest academic need.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8th, Northside campuses will begin providing some in-person instruction for students in our specialized programs in small controlled numbers. Those Tier 1 families have already been contacted.
Also, beginning tomorrow Tuesday, Sep. 8th, are Strength and Conditioning camps for both Football and Volleyball. A big shout out to our coaches for all their work and dedication around these efforts.
The Football and Volleyball game schedules have been finalized and released, they are now on the campus calendar to include practice times as well. Keep in mind the plan for spectators will be different than in years past, details will be shared as we move closer to those dates.
Beginning the week of September 14, students identified in Tier 2 will return, these are our English Language Learners who selected in-person instruction. Those families have already been notified.
There is no anticipated timeline or schedule for when Tier 3 will begin. This date will be determined based on current health metrics and will include students who are considered academically at-risk. The number of students returning within each group will be based on student need and the number of students allowed per classroom/teacher. Students in this category will be identified on those two criteria. Families included in Tier 3 will be notified by phone once a return date for Tier 3 is set. You can find the complete NISD Plan Here.
As always, stay safe, stay well and stay positive Patriot family!

Dear Rawlinson Parents,
The counseling department wants to ensure we develop and provide programs that meet your child’s needs. We would also like to know how well they believe the school counselor is meeting their needs. A survey will be sent to student email accounts starting Wednesday, September 9, 2020.
Students will have until Wednesday, September 23, 2020 to complete the survey. This survey will help us develop programs and activities based upon student need. Thank you for your assistance in providing input to better our comprehensive guidance program.

Students will be able to access the link through Schoology under the courses tab or in the Home Access Center (HAC) under the school links tab, and in their NISD portal with an icon that signifies Student Homework Support. We look forward to supporting all of our students that need assistance in the content areas.
Access codes for Schoology parent accounts will be sent the week of Sep. 14th. Please watch your student's email for the access code and instructions for creating your Schoology parent account.
As our students and teachers continue to learn, we are receiving questions related to the use of Schoology. We are working to establish a Schoology helpline that can provide assistance to parents and students.
We are excited to announce our Patriot Digital Media Crew!
The morning announcement crew has expanded and will now feature a student led digital newspaper! This team is made up of students who love to write, publicly speak and who are interested in media and production. They will be working virtually with our sponsors Halo Rogers and Andrew Childers throughout the coming weeks.
As they begin to meet and become accustom to working as a team, the "announcements" can be viewed on a slide following the pledge everyday. As of now the announcements will be made on a weekly basis, as things progress they will be more frequent.
Eventually the plan will be, for daily live video announcements. In addition, students will be creating a digital newspaper (Smore) for all the latest in student news. More details to follow, and how exciting!!!
