News & Updates
Hello CELC & MVLA Families,
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. It is my favorite weekend of the whole year...that extra hour of sleep is the BEST! Our weekend was filled with family and friends. We were able to spend some time with friends and make more memories on the softball field. My daughter has a small break from volleyball but will return to the court after Thanksgiving.
This week, students will be studying the color gray. The teachers are working on finishing up students assessments and gathering data for report cards. It is so great to see the progress the students have made since August.
Mark your calendars for Friday, November 19! It's time to "trot". Be on the look out for more information. Parents will be welcome to join the fun! Contact Stephanie at the front office if you are willing to help.
The District continues to be guided by California Department of Public Health and our experiences from last year. Thank you for your support while we navigate the 2021-22 school year.

Veterans Day
Thank you to all the brave men and women the serve our country. We are the land of the free because of the brave!
Attention MVLA Parents
Our middle school students have really taken interest in the Challenge 24 math game. See game cards below to try it yourself. You must use all four numbers to create the answer 24. You may use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to solve it. You may only use the numbers once.
MVLA 4th and 5th graders will be participating in AEF's Annual Punkin' Chunkin' at Shadow Hills Elementary School from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm this week. Students will build 8-12 foot trebuchets in small groups and then launch objects onto the field for distance and accuracy. The event helps promote engineering, physics, construction, collaboration, and mathematics. If you would like to see the event in action, check out this video https://youtu.be/tl11BbgSGXg
Do you love MVLA? If you would like to share a testimony, please email us your thoughts at tripke@alpineschools.net or your child's teacher. We would like to spread the word about our unique and amazing program.

New Ways November
Join our AUSD family in utilizing resources at www.actionforhappiness.org. They have monthly themes and ideas to help keep us Happier-Kinder-Together!
This month, Action for Happiness is encouraging you to try something new! Learning something new or getting involved in an activity that really absorbs and interests us is great for our wellbeing. Keeping our brains active is not only good for us physically but it can help you feel you are flourishing as you see yourself make progress with a new skill, or just make you smile as you make a mess and decide to start again. :) Being playful and trying new things is important, as is remembering that it's OK not to get it right first time - change "I can't do it", into "I can't do it...yet!" This month's calendar is full of ideas to help you decide what to try next.
Spirit Days
Wednesdays Mid-Week Mindfulness: wear a shirt with a positive message
Fridays School Spirit Day: wear your school shirt or school colors
