Eagle Update
March 29, 2020 (Family Edition)
Hello Silk Hope School families,
I know for many of you the past two weeks have likely seemed long and boring. At times you may have experienced frustration at this new approach to remote learning and sadness due to the lack of connectedness you feel while at school. Still yet, there may have been a few who have treated this time out of school like a snow day. Whatever the case may be, I want you to know how much we miss you. The entire staff has been working extremely hard these past few weeks to try to connect with you, support your ongoing learning, and meet the varied needs that are present.
Effective Monday, March 30, schools across our district, including Silk Hope School, will be closed to the public. We will continue to offer drive-thru service for meal distribution Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. until further notice.
Although school is closed to the public, teachers are still working preparing remote learning lessons. If you have not checked out the Silk Hope School “At-Home Learning” site, please do so as there is a great deal of information for students and families. As a reminder, our at-home learning plans can also be found on our “At Home Learning” site. Visit the school website for access.
At home learning will continue through this Friday, April 3rd and then pause for Spring Break, which lasts from April 4th-April 13th. After April 13th, teachers will continue with the at-home learning plans.
If you do not have internet access, we will have paper packets available for pickup Tuesday, April 14th from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Paper packets are only for students who do not have internet access. If you have internet access, you do not need to come to school to pick up paper packets. Keep in mind that the parking lot outside of our gym has WiFi access in case you need to download any activities from your teachers or need internet access.
If you need to speak with a faculty or staff member, please email him/her directly or call the school and enter the extension of the person you are trying to reach and leave a message. Someone will return your call in a timely manner. You are also welcome to email me, and I will have your email directed to the appropriate personnel. Contact information for all staff can be found on the SHS At Home Learning site.
Thank you for your patience and your continued support. It is always appreciated but especially during this time of uncertainty and change.
One thing that hasn’t changed is that we look forward to SOARING with you. Looking forward to seeing you again.
Mrs. Brady-Andrew
