We understand that this is a time of great uncertainty for college and career planning. Many colleges are changing not only their admission requirements, but how they work with prospective students. Colleges across the nation are also becoming ‘test optional’ and ‘test blind or test free’. Test optional means students have the choice of if they wish to submit a test score and would not be penalized if they do not. Test blind or test free means those colleges will not review any test score as part of their admission or scholarship process. Some have been this way for years and others are making this change in light of circumstances and the pandemic. To see the full list of colleges that are test optional, please visit: https://fairtest.org/university/optional . As always it is a family choice as to whether their student wishes to take the PreACT or ACT.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Jena Hitt, Laura Horton, or Suze Fulford.

EVHS GIRLS VARSITY HOCKET BEAT FARMINGTON 4-3 (MAR. 13)
On Saturday, March 13, the #12 ranked Lightning hosted #20 Farmington for senior day. It was the last regular season game for seniors Josie Ellingson, Chloe Benadum, Mikayla Kelley, Lainey Dwinnell, and Brynn Swenson. Eastview celebrated the seniors and continued its momentum toward postseason with a hard-fought 4-3 win. Juniors Avery Chesek and Nora Stepan each had 3 points and junior Angie Lombardi was stellar in the net with 39 saves.
Midway through the first, the Lightning earned a power play. Chesek won a face-off back to Stepan at the point where she ripped a wrister toward the net. The Tigers’ goalie couldn’t handle the shot and sophomore Jessica Wilhelm smashed the rebound to the back of the goal. After the first, the score was 1-0 and the shots on goal were 10-8.
At 5:27 of the second, Farmington tied the score at one. A minute and a half later, Eastview re-took the lead when Wilhelm from Chesek and Stepan struck again. Working another power play, Stepan picked up a loose puck at the Tigers’ blue line and fed Chesek as she moved to the slot. Chesek fired at the net and Wilhelm deflected it past the goalie for a 2-1 lead. Three minutes later, Stepan fed Benadum, point to point, and Benadum let a wrister go toward the Farmington goalie. The net minder couldn’t contain the rebound and Ellingson hammered the puck home. Farmington scored with 20 seconds left in the period to make the score 3-2 going to the third. Shots were 15-22.
Both teams scored once in the third. The Lightning struck first, at 2:50, when Benadum hit Kelley coming out of the Lightning zone, Kelley carried it to the Farmington end and found Chesek in the slot where she zipped the puck to the back of the net. Farmington cut the lead to one with 3 minutes remaining, but the Lightning closed the door from there. Lombardi stood strong, making 19 saves in the period. The final score was 4-3 and the shots on goal were 21-42.
The win moves Eastview’s record to 12-4-2 and 11-4-2 in the SSC.
Next up: Section Playoffs, Tuesday March 16. Let’s Go!! Go Lightning!! #WhyNotUs
JV SPORTS
EASTVIEW BOYS JV HOCKEY WINS OVER ROSEMOUNT 3-2 (MAR. 13)
The Boys JV Hockey team skated to a 3-2 victory in a classic back yard battle with the Rosemount Irish Saturday evening. Scoring goals for the Lightning were Graham Ellingson, Gavin Churness and Tyler Jerstad. Earning assists in the scoring were Brady Swenson, Sam Gillis and Tyler Gross. Goaltender Conner Christian stopped 23 shots earning the win.
This wraps up the season for the JV Boys Hockey team. They ended the season with a record of 7-8-2. Special thank you to our managers Kenley Smith, Emma Alahi, Halle Decker and Ryan Clendening for their commitment and efforts throughout the season.
EVHS BOYS JV BASKETBALL BEAT SHAKOPEE 74-33 (MAR. 12)
The Eastview JV Boys Basketball team finished the season winning 74-33 at Shakopee on Friday night. The Lightning started fast with an offensive explosion of good team ball movement, transition offense, and stellar offensive rebounding. The positive result didn't stop on the defensive end as the Lightning defense played great help side defense, controlled the rebounds, and pesky guarding on the ball. The offense was led by Jacob Scheuring's 19 points including five three-pointers. Myles Adams added 14 points, Mario Adams chipped in 10 points, and Ruhan Jordan scored 9 points. All Lightning players scored in the finale. The JV squad finished the season winning 10 straight games and an overall record of 13-5. Congratulations to Sam Bolger, Ruhan Jordan, Mario Adams, Aaron Bangh, Kayser Hassan, Jacob Scheuring, Jaden Olson, Myles Adams, Chet Kloss, and Alec Schroeder on a fantastic season and tremendous growth.
