Monthly Mindfulness Tip:
Five Senses Grounding Technique:
This grounding technique is wonderful is you are feeling upset, panicked, or
feeling high anxiety. Try to sit in a chair with your feet flat on the ground. If this isn't possible, try to sit in a comfortable position.
Look around the room and find five things that you see.....then four things that you can touch around you......then three things you hear.....two things you can smell.....and one thing you can taste. Practice deep breathing while doing this grounding activity. If needed, continue breathing when the activity is finished. By the time you are done really acknowledging these items and breathing, you should be calmer and able to think in a more able state.
