The Patriot Premier
The Weekly Update for NPHS families, Nov 18 - Nov 23, 2019
Learning with Winter Weather
Last week, the staff of NPHS recognized veterans and active military with a staff breakfast in the school library on Monday. Nearly 20 military personnel stood to applause at the breakfast, then each gave their name, their branch of service and years of service: We cultivators of the homeland appreciate our guardians of the homeland. The remaining 4 days of school for students included some of the most challenging weather conditions of the calendar year. We had high winds and snow for most of the week which drove the wind chill down to -5°F. A big thanks to our day custodian, Adam Winston, who spent most of his time outside plowing and hand-shoveling snow to keep the exits, walkways, and parking lots clear. Meanwhile, the rest of us had a full week of events, including a state walk in our halls Tuesday where Volleyball, Bowling, Swimming, and All-State Choir & Orchestra students, were honored.
This week, our annual food drive is well underway. The competition ends on Wednesday, Nov. 27th where all the students of the winning teacher will receive ice cream. Specifically, the teacher whose students bring in the most pies, and the most frozen turkeys (by poundage), will be declared the winner. All food collected goes to the food bank which provides Thanksgiving meals to families in need. Thank you for your help with this. And be sure to check out all the activities coming your way this week below: have a good one!
Sincerely,
John Fink, Interim Principal NPHS
