Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update
January 25, 2021
Dear Eagle Canyon Families,
Are you loving the rain this weekend? It is nice winter has finally arrived in Southern California.
January is a busy month at Eagle Canyon. Please be sure to click on the bulletin link below to see what is happening each day.
With the rise in COVID cases, please be extra cautious and safe. Please wear a mask, wash your hands and maintain physical distance whenever possible. Masks and physical distancing is a requirement when on any Chino Valley Unified campus. Thank you for your support!
WRITING PERFORMANCE TASK
The window for the CVUSD Writing Performance Task opens this week. This task will be completed during Synchronous (live) Instruction with teacher supervision. This is an opportunity for teachers to analyze our students' progress towards mastering the writing standards. Parents, please refrain from editing or supporting your child on this task. We need to see their individual progress. Thank you for your support!
GRADES K-2 ESSENTIAL STANDARDS ASSESSMENTS
The Essential Standards Assessment #2 window for Grades K-2 opened last week. Our goal is to have assessment results from every Kindergartner through Second Grader enrolled at Eagle Canyon.
As a reminder, this assessment is a formative assessment to help identify our students' progress towards the mastery of the essential standards. As a formative tool, a grade is not associated with these assessments. To get the most accurate results, Parents, please do NOT help your children with their assessments. This data will help the teachers identify opportunities for growth.
The assessments will be administered during class with the teacher guiding the students through the assessments. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher, Mrs. Bearden, or Dr. Titus.
Teachers have scheduled ESA's at different times during the assessment window. If your child has completed both assessments, Kindergarten and First Grade parents are asked to bring the ESA's back to the school site. Envelopes in the front office are ready for collection. Both ESA's must be turned in by Friday, January 29, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.

STORYTIME ON FACEBOOK
We hope you will join me this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. where I will share a story with our students. I'm hoping more families will be able to join live at 5:00 p.m. If you have joined the Eagle Canyon Facebook group or follow the Eagle Canyon PTA Instagram page, your child will be able to enjoy the story live.
ATTENDANCE
Families are beginning to receive letters regarding their child's attendance. Please understand, teachers are required to document their students' engagement during live instruction. Students are required to remain present in their virtual class during live instruction. When students turn their cameras off and do not respond when called on to participate in a class discussion, they are considered absent.
Please help us by talking with your children about the importance of being engaged in daily instruction and learning activities. Also talk to them about only opening tabs their teachers ask them to open. It is very easy for students to open video games in other tabs, but look like they are engaged in live instruction. We need to work together to prevent learning loss during Distance Learning. It will take everyone working together to help our students succeed. Thank you for your help!
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Bearden

Thinknlocal Fundraiser
Dear Eagle Canyon Families,
We hope your weekend has been restful and enjoyable. We’re reaching out to you to share some exciting news --our school has partnered with a locally-owned company called thinknlocal to help us start off 2021the right way! thinknlocal works to connect local schools with businesses in the community who are committed to supporting them, taking the concept of “shop local” and expanding it to create bigger and better results for our entire city.
We are all aware of the toll that the pandemic has had on our local economies --this is why thinknlocal has envisioned a simple way to push our community in a positive direction of recovery, rebuilding and empowerment that benefits everyone. With the technology developed by thinknlocal, shopping in town at your favorite local businesses, can now benefit local schools like ours, non-profit organizations, local businesses and our City Hall. And unlike our fundraisers of the past, thinknlocal is designed to help us raise more money in a shorter amount of time without the inconvenience that is often a part of traditional school fundraisers. We support our school by doing what we do anyway --shop! Our efforts go to support our school and our community.
How our thinknlocal campaign works:
- Eagle Canyon fundraiser will run from February 5, 2021 to February 15, 2021
- Fundraising goal: $750
- Eagle Canyon partners with 10-12 local business
- Each partner business will agree to a designated giveback percentage
All you have to do is:
- Download the thinknlocal app in the Apple App Store/Google Play Store
- Sign-in/create your account
- Find our fundraiser
- Snap pictures of your receipts every time you patronize a partner business
thinknlocal takes care of the rest!
You can stay up-to-date with thinknlocal by following them on Facebook and Instagram. We will also continue to send out updates through our normal channels.
We hope you share in our excitement about partnering with thinknlocal and beginning our first fundraising campaign of the year, knowing that our efforts will not only benefit our school, but our local businesses and community as well!
Let’s show our community how Eagle Canyon Elementary School is thinknlocal!

Support Eagle Canyon
A popular fundraising opportunity all families can support is Box Tops. Download the Box Top app on your phone. All you have to do is scan your receipts on the Box Top app within 14 days of the purchase. The app will let you know if any of the items purchased qualify. If so, we earn 10 cents per product.
As of today, our school has earned $85.60 this year. Our goal is to earn $1,000.00. If you also get the coupons, please turn them in to the school office. Thank you in advance for your support!
