The Black Bear Corner
#AIMHIGH
Hello Black Bear Family!
What an amazing week! As I conversated with students during the day, many of them were apt to acknowledge how much they are enjoying your classes. The students' excitement for learning was also obvious as Mrs. Johnson and I observed your classes. I am so THANKFUL for each of you.
We began walkthroughs this past week. If you were not fortunate enough to have us to come to your classes, stay tuned... we are coming! Also, if you did not receive an email with immediate feedback from your walkthrough, please let Mrs. Johnson and I know. We are experiencing a few difficulties with the set-up of the walkthrough form. Mrs. Elam is working diligently to get everything situated.
Mrs. Johnson sent a "TEST" schoolcast on Friday, August 16. Please email us promptly if you did not receive the schoolcast. It is imperative that our schoolcast listing is correct. During drills, particularly, lockdown drills, this is the way communication will be maintained between you and emergency personnel.
I anticipate this week will be just as amazing as the last! Remember, we are THANKFUL everyday as we EMPOWER our students to make an IMPACT.
Be blessed,
Mrs. Anita A. Clarke

Hallway transition & Dismissal Procedures
Transition from each class
- Students should walk on the right side of the hallway at all times.
- Students are permitted to use their cellphones during class transitions, however, they can only use one earbud and are not permitted to hold conversations on their cellphones.
- Teachers please line your students up at the door prior to them leaving your class.
- You may want to set a timer to remind you to adhere to this request.
- Step outside of the door prior to your classes exiting your room. Therefore, you are automatically on hall duty to monitor appropriate transitions in the hallway (right side).Everyone is expected to adhere to this protocol.
- Allow the students to exit toward their respective directions.
Afternoon Dismissal:
The students should be dismissed by hallways as announced over the intercom in approximately 2 minute increments.
[The bell will only symbolizes the school day has ended.]
An announcement will be made for each group to be dismissed as follows:
3:30 - All lower level 6th grades, both East and West Hall (continue to use side exits as well)
3:30 - Band, Chorus, Green Power and Robotics
3:30 - Art and Drama, *Williams as usual*
3:30 - Clay, Miller, & McBrayer
3:31ish - Upstairs West Hall (Bishop, Phillips, Fleischauer/Johns, Merkt, & Crook)
3:31ish - Miller, Boddie, Linley, Huff, and Walker, Stewart, Cloud
3:32ish - Upstairs East Hall (White, Handley, Brewer, Bohler, Brooks, Blubaugh, Free and Staley)
Please remember to use the dismissal procedures for "transition from each class."
If you have afternoon duty stations, you may leave at approximately 3:30pm at the initial dismissal. Consequently, I am asking those of us that do not have afternoon duty to remain cognizant of your surroundings until those stations are covered.
