Take Note...

THE NEWSLETTER IS A DAY EARLY!!

THERE WILL BE NO NEWSLETTER NEXT WEEK.

FIELD TRIP REMINDERS...

Tomorrow is our field trip to Lincoln Carver Farm. The bus will leave school at approximately 9:00.

Please plan on following the bus or meeting us at the farm if you volunteered to help chaperone. **We ask that you do NOT bring younger siblings, as your small group will require your full attention.

We will load the bus at 1:00 to return to school.

Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for a farm! I would NOT wear sandals or flip flops!

CAR RIDERS...

Do NOT throw your hangtags away! The office will only be providing hangtags to our kindergarteners and new families to North next year. Replacement tags for those lost will be available for $1.00 each. You can help to be sure they are easily readable in the fall by tracing over your name with a black permanent marker. Please use all capital letters and use the whole space provided so that it will be easy to read. Store your hangtags in your glove compartment so that they are protected from light and kept safe until next school year. Thanks so much for your help!

Read MOre Missouri and Summer Math Challenge...

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is providing opportunities for reading and math practice over the summer for those students who have finished grades 1-7. If you are interested in Read MOre Missouri and Summer Math Challenge, please visit the following links:

TENNIS SHOES...

It would be a really good idea to wear tennis shoes the remainder of the school year. Flip flops and sandals are not safe for the many outdoor activities planned!

Thanks

We Have Accomplished A Lot of Great Things!

I feel like we have accomplished a lot of great things this year! The kids have a lot to be proud of. Many have greatly improved their Reading levels over the course of the year. Many passed all of their Math Hall of Fame quizzes for a Brag Tag. We have written many great stories and poems. We had some really fun hands-on Science projects/experiments. Most importantly, we have learned to accept others for who they are and work/play nicely together.

I am very proud of the job the kids did in the Sing-Off. The Championship banner is proudly hung outside of our classroom! WAY TO GO "TIGERS"!!

(A BIG thanks to Mrs. Backes for all of her hard work!)

I do hope you will encourage your child to read every day over the summer. There are all kinds of things they can read besides books! (recipes, directions, menus, road signs, labels in the grocery store, board games, etc.) Take your kids to the library in J.C. and let them get a library card and check out books. They would love this if they haven't done this before!

Make sure they get a little Math practice in, too! There are all kinds of workbooks available at Barnes and Noble or Classroom Connection. There may even be some at Wal-Mart or the Dollar Stores! One of my favorites is called The Summer Bridge Activity Book. They are all labeled for appropriate grade levels.

Lastly,

Thank you for your help at home. It takes all of us working together to make these youngsters successful!
