Local Parent Equipping Events
Be encouraged and equipped at one of our 3-day practicums!
Teach them HOW to learn!
Spend three days of learning with other local homeschool families! Be encouraged and equipped for the upcoming school year!
Each summer, we come together to practice the tools of learning and discuss ways to implement them at home with our children. Whether you're a veteran homeschooler, just starting this year, or only beginning to toss around this idea, you WILL be blessed!
This year's theme is The Art of Grammar: Unlocking Language. We’ll practice with easy-to-use techniques, learning how to open the lines of communication with our children that make acquiring knowledge and everyday conversations easier.
During our 3 days together, we’ll also investigate English grammar and Latin grammar, discovering how a mastery of English grammar becomes the bridge to successfully pursuing foreign language. We will practice our learning skills with Latin, and learn some tips and best practices for Latin scholars.
Why attend practicum??
- You are the teacher. This is your continuing education to be sure you're prepared for what lies ahead.
- We are community. You may have been in CC for a while, and if so, you probably know the three arts of the trivium. You've got the grammar down. So this year, move into the dialectic by being on a panel and answering questions. Mentor a new mom and encourage and explain things to them! Volunteer to help! Be there to ENCOURAGE the rest of your community. Trust me, you'll learn something new and will grow in your understanding along the way.
- Buy your books...AT A DISCOUNT! Pick them up, touch them, feel them, smell them! Decide if this is what will work for your family. Another great reason to buy your books at practicum? You get to support another local CC mom on their journey because our book store reps get a percentage of what is sold at practicum. So save money, buy the products you need, and support another homeschool parent!
- Be encouraged! Every year we have new speakers with new stories to share and inspire you! If you're feeling pulled at by the world and culture and everything else that wears on a mama's heart, come and be fed!
- Model for your kids! Show your children that their education really is a priority and that commitment to lifelong learning is not something you just talk about. Model for them that you, too, are learning and seeking to grow in wisdom and understanding. Our kids can clearly see that what we give our time to, is what we deem important and valuable. When we make a commitment to be present and continue to learn, they see it and respect it much more than anything we could ever say to them.
- Refocus. There are so many good things out there. Be reminded why you started this journey. Be reminded why you chose the classical method. Most of us were not taught this way, so our flesh and the culture pulls us back to the checklist and traditional schooling mentality. We want more for our children!
