Morning Student Drop-Off Reminder

Important reminder regarding morning drop-off:

If you drive your child to school, please drop them off in the back circle off of Mohawk Dr. between 7:40 and 7:55. This is a safer and less congested area than King Philip Dr.

Thank you!

*You are invited to a Parent/Caregiver check-in before the 7th-grade concert on Thursday, December 12th, from 6:00 to 6:20 in the KP auditorium. Lead Learner Letter

KP Families,

Despite starting with some early season winter weather, we have had another great week! December is always a busy month with a lot of wonderful things on our calendar. Next week begins our concert season, with the 7th-grade and 8th-grade winter concerts on Monday and Thursday, and the 6th-grade concert the following Monday. We always love seeing students and families socializing as part of our school events. Next Friday, December 13th is our annual PJ's for the Kids fundraiser where the whole school wears pajamas in solidarity with the brave children in CT who are in treatment for cancer and serious illnesses at CCMC. Last year our school raised over $1,400 to support this cause.

I am so proud that a few of our teams and our support staff have adopted families from the KP and West Hartford Community. Thank you for what you are doing as well to help these families have a wonderful holiday.

On Monday we will be 10 days away from Winter Break. The time is flying, Thursday, the 12th, marks the midpoint for the second quarter. The Unified Arts rotation ends on December 18th. Please check-in with your child about their progress. Ask your child about how they are progressing on the goals they discussed at the student-led conference. Encourage your child to set up time with their teacher if they have questions or concerns about past or upcoming assignments.

Have a great upcoming weekend!

Lost and Found

Is your child missing a lunch box, sneakers, a sweatshirt, a water bottle, pants, or a book? Please check in with them about going through the lost and found table in the small cafeteria. We will bag items up on December 6th and they can be accessed for a couple of weeks downstairs before our donation.

Light Up the World with Kindness

6th grade students: Jane Luoma, Claire Nordquist, Hannah Fink, and Jade Guillermo participated in a bulletin board project called, "Light Up the World with Kindness", with 6th grade school counselor, Mrs. Graff, and school counselor intern, Ms. Chudy, as a way to promote kindness at King Philip. Each of the girls wrote positive messages for students and staff to read as they pass along the hallway.

PJ Day for the Kids

PJ Day for the Kids is an opportunity for students and business partners across the state to show support for patients at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Over the last 7 years, participants have worn PJ’s in honor of children at the hospital who must wear their PJ’s for extended periods of time while fighting cancer or other serious illnesses.

This year, KP will participate in PJ Day for the Kids on Friday, December 13. Bring in a $1 or more donation to your MA teacher and wear your PJs for the day in support of the brave children at CCMC.

"Public Act 16-189

We believe that it is vital for all students in West Hartford Public Schools to be able to efficiently and effectively use digital tools that empower them in all phases of the learning process, including research, problem solving, content creation, communication, and collaboration. We also believe that we must be committed at all times to protecting students' privacy and providing them with a powerful and safe educational experience. To that end, the West Hartford Public Schools follow the legal requirements of Public Act 16-189 to promote the safety and security of all students and staff.

In compliance with Connecticut State Law, we update online programs used within the district that house student data. The programs may be used district-wide, in a very small number of classrooms, or with individual students. The list will be updated each time the district enters into a new contract where student data is housed. For more information on the specifics of Public Act 16-189 and updates of vendor agreements, visit"
