Spirit Night THANK YOU!

OCE kicked off the year with a great Spirit Night at Sweet Spoons. It was a perfect evening made better with tasty treats and sprinkles! And OCE raised nearly $85. Now that's sweet!

The class with the most participation and winner of the free frozen yogurt party is Ms. Miller's Kindergarten class! Congratulations!!

No Fuss Fundraiser

Your child should have come home with information on the OCE PTA's No Fuss Fundraiser option (Track 4 should be on the lookout for information to come home this week).

As outlined in an earlier Beacon, we have several fundraisers planned for this year including the Boosterthon Fun Run (October), the Silent Auction (February), and Artapalooza (Spring).

However, we know securing Fun Run sponsors or bidding on items isn't everyone's thing. So this year we have designed the No Fuss Fundraiser where you can simply send in a tax-deductible donation and know that 100% of your donation is going straight to the school to support important classroom and educational initiatives.

PLEASE NOTE, you will still be contacted about these other fundraisers, it will be your choice to participate.

There are a few ways to consider participating:

* Calculate how much you would have donated at all this year's fundraisers and send in one amount and ignore fundraisers the rest of the year.

* Love the Auction, but hate the Fun Run? Donate what you would have to sponsor your child in the Fun Run to the No Fuss, but still participate in the Auction in February.

* Donate what you can. No donation is too small as even $25 can help provide a field trip scholarship to a student.

Here are some ways your donation could be used by OCE:

* $1,000 -- Could provide a Chromebook for a classroom

* $500 -- Could provide registration fees for club activities

* $250 -- Could provide start-up funds for new clubs

* $100 -- Could provide teacher grants to provide additional classroom activities

* $50 -- Could provide start-up money for the Student Council

* $25 -- Could provide scholarship money for students to attend field trips.

Ready to donate? Complete the form attached below and send a check made out to OCE PTA with "No Fuss" in the subject line back to your child's teacher.

You can also click here and donate with a credit card. Don't forget your child's name and grade in the appropriate fields.

Track 4 Open House

Track 4 Parents: Come and meet your child's teacher, see their classroom, and get a sneak peek at all your student's will be learning this year at the OCE Open House.

Track 4 - Tuesday, August 13th from 6:00-7:30pm

This is an event for parents, so we do ask that you work to find childcare. If you are not able to, we will have the YMCA present to provide care for those unable to secure it on their own. There will be two rotations for class visits for parents with more than one child here at Olive Chapel. The schedule is as follows:

6:00 - 6:30 p.m. First Classroom Visit

6:35 - 7:00 p.m. PTA meeting in the Gym (no classroom visits at this time)

7:05 - 7:30 p.m. Second Classroom Visit

BYOD - Bring Your Own Device

Fourth and fifth grade students have the option to bring their own internet-based devices into the classroom to enhance lessons and learning.

To learn more about the initiative and how it works practically, there will be a meeting for fourth and fifth grade parents at the times noted below.

  • Tracks 1, 2, and 4 will be held on August 5th, 2019 from 5:00-5:30pm in the media center.
  • Track 3 will be held on August 21st, 2019 from 5:00-5:30pm in the media center.
