Learn. Lead. Grow. Succeed. Together.
August 31, 2018
Happy Friday HES families! Our students and staff are working hard each day, and we have some firmly established routines and procedures in place to help us learn! Students in each classroom are engaged with reading books, working together to solve math problems, and some in conducting science experiments! We are excited to show our families how we will learn, grow, lead and succeed together this year! We have an extra long weekend approaching! I hope everyone can take a few extra moments to spend with your family during this time. Time with our kids passes quickly so grab every extra second you can with them!
School will not be in session on Monday, September 3. Happy Labor Day!
School will not be in session for students on Monday, September 10 for teacher professional development.
Reading for Education
Our Reading for Education fundraiser starts today! Your child should bring home a booklet of postcards to be addressed to families and friends. Your child receives 1 prize for a completed booklet and a small token for a partial booklet. The prizes are on display in our lobby! HES receives 10 cents per address we collect, and your participation is voluntary! The money collected helps pay for student incentives, school-wide parties, and field trip expenses. This year our school goal is 170 full booklets! Thank you for your help!
PTO News
The HES Parent Teacher Organization, or PTO, will hold its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 5 at 5:00 PM. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. Our PTO helps fund and support several special events for our children including: book fairs, Olympic Day, Student Fun Day, and special grade level events. We appreciate the support of our PTO and would love to see new members at our meetings!
Be Proactive
Students and staff continue to work with the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to compliment our leadership program this year. In September we will be focusing on Habit One: BE PROACTIVE. Classes have shared their proactive ideas with the office, and some are pictured below! Ask your child how he/she has been PROACTIVE during their first full weeks of school!
The link may help you understand more about being proactive!
School Pictures
School Pictures will be taken on Wednesday, September 12. A picture packet was sent home earlier this week!
