April 6
Dear Mize Families,
Congratulations! We all made it through the first week of distance learning. I have been extremely proud of the hard work and efforts put forth by our staff. They have been committed to planning and preparing a variety of learning opportunities and have invested countless hours to ensure that our precious Hawks continue to grow educationally. Their love and passion for our students continues to amaze me each and every day!
While I am proud of our staff, I am also proud of our families! I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for partnering with us, during this unprecedented time. We understand that this situation has brought about trying times for us all and with it, many unexpected issues. As I mentioned last week, our staff will continue to extend grace, patience, and a helping hand wherever needed. Please don’t hesitate to call on us with any questions, concerns, or any needs for assistance. This is new territory for us all and we will get through it TOGETHER! We care about all of our families and are here to share in this journey. Have a wonderful week, enjoy the upcoming weather, and be well!
Sincerely,
Ms. Balthazor
Continuous Learning Plan Link on Website
We've added a landing place on our website that will hopefully be useful for reaching information related to our new learning experience. All of the information is under the first tab on the left and is organized by grade level. Teaching and learning will be guided by essential standards which are described in each section.
Vision for Continuous Learning
Even in these extraordinary circumstances, we commit to “Maximize each student’s potential, through inspiration and discovery.” Students will still be connected to their teachers and will engage in meaningful learning experiences that focus on essential learning standards.
Upcoming Dates to Remember..
April 10 Previously Scheduled Non-School Day, Teachers not on duty
April 13 Previously Scheduled Non-School Day, but teachers will be on duty so lessons will arrive as they usually do in our new learning environment.

Mizehawk Spotlight
This week's spotlight is the Brummitt family. I think this picture shows what truly matters is family and our community. There are a lot of uncertainties in this world right now and we will get through this together and stronger than before. Take the time to love the ones near and dear to you! Mize is a family and we are THANKFUL for all of you!
Curbside Grab & Go Meals!
LOCATION CHANGE: New time and location for Shawnee, effective Monday, April 6. See below.
USD 232 is providing an opportunity for families to pick up free meals for children, ages 1-18, in a curbside grab-and-go service. The federal food program is administered through the United States Department of Agriculture and the Kansas State Department of Education.
NEW! TIME & LOCATION CHANGE
Due to a waiver of certain federal requirements, we can now shift our Shawnee distribution location to Monticello Trails Middle School. This change is effective, Monday, April 6. This location change will allow for more efficiency in our meal prep and distribution process. Prior to this change, we were restricted to a certain area in Shawnee.
We are extending the Shawnee distribution time to 90 minutes.
- Monticello Trails Middle School, Shawnee – 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
6100 Monticello Road, Shawnee
We are adding two lanes of service.
Please check out all of the latest information regarding the district's free meal program. Changes are made regularly to locations and times. A HUGE "Thank You" to all of those that are putting so much extra time and effort to make sure our students are getting the nutrition they need during this crazy time!
