The Dead Sea is located in between Isreal and Jordan. Kallia is a main city that boarders the sea.
The Dead Sea is known for the Sea of Salt or the Sea of Death because the salt content is so high. The sea water has a density of 1.24 kg/L.
The water is so dense, that most things in it will float. There is not much wildlife in it because it has 33.7% saltinity making it the world's saltiest bodies of water.
It has so much salt in it that it will sometimes create salt blocks near the shore of the sea. It is 8.6 times saltier than the ocean.
1.2 million tourist visited the sea on the Israeli side in 2009. The salt and minerals are often used as cosmetics and herbal sachets.
The Dead Sea is the lowest place on Earth. It is 1,400 feet deep, 34 miles long, and 2 to 11 miles wide.
