What is Legionnaire's Disease?
Legionellosis is a respiratory disease caused by the bacteria legionella pneumophilia. If the bacteria infect the lungs and cause pneumonia it's called Legionnaire's Disease. A few symptoms of the disease include a fever, cough, and chest pain. You can contract this disease by inhaling particles form water tanks and cooling systems. Treatment for this disease would be antibiotics.
Prevention of Legionnaire's Disease is possible, it includes meticulous cleaning and disinfection of water systems, things like pools and spas.
Another way to prevent Legionnaire's Disease is avoid smoking. Smoking increases the likelihood of contracting the disease if exposed to the legionella bacteria.
