A Message from Principal Boucher
SLPHS families,
I hope you are staying warm while we experience this extended polar vortex. As we look toward our return to the Modified Campus (hybrid) model next week, this newsletter will focus on some important details and reminders:
- Wednesday, February 10 (Today) and Thursday, February 11: For students in the Modified Campus (hybrid) model these will be designated days to catch up on existing assignments as teachers and staff prepare for their return to the building next week. Students in Extended Flexible Learning will continue with classes on these days.
- Friday, February 12 and Monday, February 15: There is no school for all students.
- February 16: For students in Modified Campus (hybrid) model, we return to the schedule we had in the fall:
- Students in group “A” will be in the building on Mondays and Thursdays. We will see you for your first day back in the building on Thursday, February 18.
- Students in group “B” will be in the building on Tuesdays and Fridays. We will see you for your first day back in the building on Tuesday, February 16.
- Wednesdays continue as at-home learning days.
- We will accept requests to shift to Modified Campus from Extended Flexible Learning beginning the week of February 22 for the trimester 3. We’ll have more information on that next week. Students can request Extended Flexible Learning at any point this year.
In closing, I want to encourage community engagement in the Panthers for a Purpose community giving initiative. We’re in the final days of spirit wear as we join with Panthers for a Purpose in raising awareness and support for the Weekend Food Pack program. This week, we’re gearing up for the last challenge before the February 27 virtual giving event. It is a funky week and time to get your groove on….hint, hint…check out details in the newsletter.
One school, one community, SLPPantherProud!

New College and Career Readiness Ambassador Program
The College and Career Readiness Ambassador Program is in its inaugural year and wants parents and guardians to know all of the opportunities students have to prepare for their future! The high school counseling office is offering many college and career planning opportunities in the coming weeks and months for students of all ages and wants to ensure you and your child know how to access these resources.
Information about attending these events can be found on the Calendar in Schoology as well as on the Career and College Readiness page. In addition, links to virtual college visits can be found in Naviance under “What’s New.”
A wide variety of resources on college planning and career readiness can be found in Schoology under the course: “Counselor: Your Grade.” This includes videos, documents, and links to websites on choosing the right college, finding scholarships, and finding the right career.
We hope these resources will be helpful for you in planning for the future. Feel free to reach out to the counseling team for any questions! And be sure to follow us on Instagram @slpambassadors_
Juniors – attend the 916 Career and Tech Center
Every year, SLPHS offers several spots to juniors to attend the 916 Career and Tech Center. This program is similar to PSEO as it provides an off campus learning experience while earning college credit. The difference is that this program offers opportunities to get the training needed to move right into a Career or Tech school to finish a certification or degree for quick access into the workforce. Check out this video to learn more and contact your child's counselor with any questions.
