Panther Period Schedule- December 14th

We will be following a Panther Period schedule today, December 14th. Students will be participating in a Digital Citizenship Activity about Cyber Bullying during Panther Period.

Bust out your ugly Holiday sweater or favorite blue attire


Spirit gear must be school appropriate.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks are on sale now through January 4th, 2022. You can purchase a yearbook for through the bookkeeping office, for $75.

ASB Officers

Attention all Juniors: The ASB Student Government is holding elections for our next term of Officers. These positions will start second semester of 2022 and run until February of 2023!

Applications can be picked up in the ASB Office or on the ASB Canvas page.

Applications are due on December 17th and Elections will take place in January.

Macho Volleyball

Calling all Macho Male Panthers! Macho Volleyball is coming up on January 22nd, at noon! Sign-ups will be in the main office after Winter Break. It is $10 per player, or $15 if paid on January 21st. Start building your team of 6-10 so we can take back the title from Glacier Peak. The Panther Volleyball girls will be hosting a few practices to help perfect your skills- be listening for details after break! If you have questions, or need a team, see Mrs. Barstad or Mr. Ivelia. The tournament will be held at SHS this year, so mark your calendars to cheer on your favorite team.

Admission for spectators is $3 w/ASB or $5 w/o ASB.

ASVAB Testing

If you are interested in career exploration, and you are a sophomore, junior or senior, the ASVAB test is a great took to use. The ASVAB test is a free 1.5 hour aptitude test that is given in the library computer lab during the school day. SHS will host the ASVAB on January 11th. Sno-Isle Application Process

Sophomores and Juniors intrested in applyinf to Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center for next year, please be aware of the application process, the application opens on January 12th at 5:00pm. To learn more, visit the SHS College & Career Center Webpage.

PSAT Scores

PSAT scores are available now, on your College Board account. If you have not made an account yet, make sure to do so on the collegeboard.org website.


Starting on December 7th you will be able to check your scores online at studentscores.collegeboard.org, you will need to login to your account in order to see your scores.


Email reminders will be sent to those who provided their email addresses on their exam sheets.

With your College Board account, you can also unlock a robust set of personalized resources to help understand your scores.

Lifeguard Training- Winter Break 2021

The Snohomish Aquatic Center is offering two lifeguard training courses at the Snohomish Aquatic Center over Winter Break. Visit www.sno.wednet.edu/lifeguardtraining to learn more. Those interested can register online or at the Welcome Desk. Registration deadline is December 15, 2021. Questions should be directed to robert.serviss@snohomishaquatic.com.

Academic Learning Lab

We are happy to announce that the after-school Academic Learning Lab has begun!

Our SHS Academic Learning Lab provides students a safe place to access academic support, homework support, complete assignments, and study. Students may attend Academic Learning Lab, Monday through Thursday from 2:30-3:30 p.m., in the library. Each session, students will have access to a teacher for support. National Honor Society tutors will also be available to assist students. Unfortunately, at this time, there is no transportation provided.

Local Scholarship Program Sign Up

Seniors, the Local Scholarship Program will open on February 1st. The scholarship program offers 60+ local scholarships that are available to seniors in our school district. All applications will be submitted on the Washboard.org. All seniors interested in applying for the Local Scholarship Program need to complete this form. More information will be provided in January.

Bank of America Student Leaders

If you are a junior or senior with a passion for improving your community, the Bank of America Student Leader Program is now accepting applications! To learn more about this program or apply, go to bankofamerica.com/studentleaders. The deadline to the Student Leader application is January 29th, 2022.

Seattle Hiroshima Club Scholarships

Seniors, the Seattle Hiroshima Club will be awarding up to three scholarships to seniors who have a parent or guardian in the club and have a GPA of 3.8 or above. Deadline to apply is March 11, 2022. Lake Washington Singers Scholarship

The Lake Washington Singers, a women’s choir, is now accepting applications for their $1000 scholarship. To apply, you must be at least 15 years of age, complete the application and submit mp3 recordings of two vocal selections. The scholarship recipient will be asked to perform at their spring concert. American Indian Endowed Scholarship Awards

Applications are available for the 2022-23 American Indian Endowed Scholarship awards. To be eligible, applicants must have close social and cultural ties to an American Indian tribe or community in Washington state, along with other criteria. The application deadline is March 1. College Planning Nights for Local Community Colleges

Want to learn more about local community & technical colleges? Join "College Planning Nights" hosted by admissions representatives from Bellingham Technical College, Northwest Indian College, Skagit Valley College, and Whatcom Community College. This is an opportunity to connect with all four colleges in one place. They will also have one financial aid representative and other helpful experts at each event.

This recurring event will take place from 4-6pm on the first Tuesday of every month December to June, as well as the last Tuesday of the month from March to June.

Financial Aid Information and Filing Events for Seniors

2022-2023 FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) and the WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) are accepting applications. If you are planning on attending a tech school, trade school, college or university next fall, now is the perfect time to be applying for financial aid. Filling out the FAFSA or WASFA application as soon as possible will provide you with the best shot for being considered for financial aid! Contact the College & Career Center with questions.

Do you have a bachelor's degree? Be a substitute teacher!

The Snohomish School District is hiring emergency substitute teachers. Did you know you can become an emergency substitute if you hold a bachelor's degree or higher? This position pays $185 to $260 per day (depends on duration of assignment) applicant must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and must pass STEDI subskills test.
