Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
On Tuesday, some friends helped me hang a new poster outside our gates - All are Welcome @ BMMS. All means All. How do we make BMMS a place where truly EVERYONE is Welcome? Thank you to those families that read our email sent on Friday about vandalism on our campus. Some of you may have heard of a recent “challenge” on the social media app TikTok where individuals are encouraging others to steal or damage school property. The original video on TikTok now has over 11 million views and many re-creations. Students are stealing things from their campuses such as soap dispensers, toilet paper holders, microscopes, signs, a box of hand sanitizer, teacher’s car keys, and damaging drinking fountains, toilets, fire alarms and more. This is happening all over the country; our schools are not immune from such vandalism and theft, which is why we are reaching out. BMMS has had hundreds of dollars in damage this year to our bathrooms and campus. We are asking for the entire community to partner with us to eliminate this behavior on our campuses. If you have any information regarding these incidents or questions about this matter, please contact our assistant principals, Ryan Keller rkeller@powayusd.com or Valerie White vwhite@powayusd.com
We appreciate your partnership,
Scott Corso

Coffee with the Principal Correction
This past Tuesday, we had a wonderful turnout for coffee with the principal. Here is a link to the recording posted on our YouTube page LINK. During our conversation, a question came up about students who have symptoms which could possibly be COVID related. To clarify what should have been shared...If those symptoms include fever or chills, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea and they don’t have a documented pre-existing conditions that count for the symptoms (school has doctor’s note noting pre-existing condition), they need to EITHER
Quarantine for at least 10 days after symptom onset and can return on day 11
Or
Get a negative Covid Molecular Test, be symptom free for 24 hours and then can return to school (this is regardless of vaccination status)
If your child or a staff member does not feel well, they need to stay home. If you or a family member does not feel well, please don’t visit our school/front office. We need to all do our part to make Black Mountain as safe as possible.
