Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy
Praise Report
- Thanks to the SPED department team members (Shauna, Ginger, & Maureen) for assisting with the K-2 transition.
Head of School
Let's CELEBRATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all of the thoughtful emails sent to me regarding our renewal. They certainly made me smile. #LAVCAPRIDE
A few things to know regarding the renewal:
~It is for three years
~We are expected to fully implement a Tier 1 curriculum for ELA and Math by the start of SY 2020. Until then, we will continue to scaffold in content using resources provided by ANET and our Instructional ADM team.
~We must provide face to face support for struggling students via blended model.
~We must have a plan to tackle truancy with "boots on the ground"
~We must build more opportunities for high school students with increasing our Jump Start pathways
~We must have a plan to reduce student/teacher ratios.
More information to come.
Have a great weekend.
~Danielle

BOSS Information
- Course Reports have been updated. If you have an A course for Fall semester and a B course for Spring semester, as opposed to one course for the entire year, you will need to change to the B course in the drop down menu (as shown in the screenshot below) for your students to populate.
- If your students are not starting standardized tests the week of April 8th - 12th, your Paced Standards SPS will be inaccurate. You can change the Assessment Date (as shown in the screenshot below). Just type in the earliest date your students would be testing into the cell.
New BOSS Feature
Chelsea has brought it to my attention that, if a student retakes an assessment, the current calculations would include both the initial assessment and the retest. This makes the SPS estimation lower than it should be. This new feature will not completely resolve this issue, however it may help depending on how you do your retakes.
A new row has been added to the top of your BOSS. (See screenshot below.) In this row, you may choose if you want a particular quiz calculated in your SPS estimation. In the screenshot, you can see that standard RL.2 was retested. In addition, every student has a score for the second retest. So, the teacher can choose to not calculate the first RL.2 checkpoint in the CP Average (which is what is used for the SPS calculation).
To use this feature:
- Ensure that every child has a score for the retested standard.
- Select "No" from the dropdown menu in the first row above the Checkpoint to exclude from the calculation.
- Recalculate your BOSS if it is on manual calculations. (Formulas Tab --> Calculate Now)
