Reading and Writing

Read Alouds:

*Children will be actively engaged in group reading activities with purpose and understanding. RLK10

The letter highlighted this week will be Ii.. We will be reviewing all letters covered to this point-Mm, Ss, Dd, Pp, Hh, Tt, Nn, Aa, Ll.

We will continue using the letters we have covered this far and blend them together to make words. At the end of the week, your child should be able to read the following words: am, Sam, Pam, ham, bam, bad, mad, sad, pad, had, dad, add, map, as, at, hat, sat, pat, mat., bat. an, can, Dan, man, pan, tan, did, bid, hid, kid, lid, dip, hip, lip, nip, sip, tip, it, hit, sit

*We will work on understanding that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger. K-CC4c

* We will continue working on counting on from a given number (5, 6, 7… 10, 11, 12…). K-CC2

*We will continue sorting and classifying objects in groups by attributes. KMD3

*We will continue working on recognizing the numbers 0-20 and counting objects using one-to- one correspondence. KCC4 KCC5

*We will continue to work on writing numerals 1-20 correctly. KCC3

Number Bonds:

We will continue working with the number 4 and all the combinations of numbers that go together to make 4( 0 and 4, 4 and 0,1 and 3, 3 and 1, 2 and 2). KCC4

Science and Social Studies

*We will continue learning about the changes that happen in Fall. SK9

*We will begin our science module on speed and direction. SK2

Important Reminders

*Community Helper Dress Up Day - Wednesday, October 19th,

Choose your favorite community worker to dress up like and share what you know/like about him/her.

*Community Helper Field Trip- Thursday, October 20th.

Wear your field trip shirt and tennis shoes. Bring a sack lunch and drink unless

you ordered one from the lunchroom.

*Pumpkin Investigations-Tuesday, October 25th 9:00 - 11:00

*Treat Bags - Looking for parents who would like to send in items for a treat bag for the kids. More info from room moms soon. Goodie bag treats need to be at school by Wednesday, October 26th.

*Please make sure your child is completing the minimum of 15 minutes each week on Raz Kids and Dream Box to reinforce what he/she is learning at school. Your child should also be reading a minimum of 3 letter or word lines with fluency in his/her Homework folder.
