Email Rupa Sheth at rupasheth@gmail.com with the parent's name and phone number.

Also, if you have any ideas, suggestions please reach out to Rupa as well.

Spring & Class Pictures March 19

A schedule has been developed for you with a focus on getting pictures made prior to lunch & specials. Reference Kathy Poole's email for the schedule. Thank you Kathy for organizing this huge event with minimal disruption to our learning time and knowing that our friends need to have pictures made before they eat & go outside to play. Of course, second grade is tough b/c you have specials first thing. We know you understand.

Atlanta Science Festival

GCPS is a partner of the Atlanta Science Festival, a weeklong celebration of local science and technology held March 22-29, 2014 at venues across the metro area. The week includes over 100 events - most of them free - for adults, children, families, and curious folk of all ages. The Festival concludes with the Exploration Expo, the city's biggest interactive science event on March 29 at Centennial Olympic Park. Meet local scientists and engineers, touch a brain, grow your own bacteria, control robotic roaches with your mobile device, crawl into the inflatable planetarium, tour the GSU Bio-Bus and the STE(A)M Truck, explore the Maker Village and Biotech Tent, drop in on the Science Café and the nearby Georgia FIRST Robotics competition.

The online Educator Toolkit has everything educators need to engage with the Atlanta Science Festival: cash incentives to attend the Expo, classroom flyer, volunteer opportunities, and links to relevant Festival events for teachers and students. Learn more at: http://atlantasciencefestival.org/educator-toolkit

The Media Center will continue to close daily @ 2:30PM.

Law Day 2014

Each year, the Gwinnett County Bar Association along with the Social Studies office of Gwinnett County Public Schools sponsors Law Day and Law-Related Education Week. This year the dates to observe this special focus week are April 25 - May 1, 2014. Your school is invited and encouraged to participate in activities designed for your school level. The activities and opportunities provided by this special event can help your students develop a greater understanding and appreciation for the law. Your grade chair has been given a booklet outlining activities being offered. Visit the "American Bar Association" Website for further details: http://www.americanbar.org/groups/public_education/initiatives_awards/law_day_2014.html

DON'T FORGET to share what you are doing during this week with the administrators. Events like this are a great way to get publicity for our school.
