Baby It's Cold Outside
Guidelines for Winter Weather
Skin Is Not In This Year
Parents, the forecast for tomorrow looks like temperatures below freezing for the morning. Per Albemarle County Public Schools policy, students must have all skin on their arms and legs covered if it is below 32 degrees or FEELS like it is below freezing with the wind chill. If your child has shorts or a short sleeve shirt on and no pants or coat, they will not be allowed to go outside for recess.
When the temperature falls that low, we offer an indoor option for students who choose not to go out in the cold for recess. I am not going to be the hat and gloves police for the students. It is their choice to wear them or not. However, exposed arms and legs is not an option when the temperature drops below freezing. As one of the students asked today, long socks to not count. Please let me know if you have any questions.
