Another important update for the school year is the State of Michigan testing program. The State of Michigan has adopted the new SAT test as part of the MSTEP. All members of the junior class will be expected to take the MSTEP test in April, the week after spring break. The MSTEP will now include the SAT, the Work Keys tests and shorter Michigan-developed tests for science and social studies.
To adequately prepare students in the Class of 2017, juniors will take the PSAT on October 14. By participating in the PSAT, juniors will then have experience taking the exam as well as receiving a personalized remediation program to best prepare for the SAT in April. Teachers will also have access to student results and will be able to adjust their instruction to meet the needs of our students.
The State of Michigan has also adopted the PSAT for students in grades 9 and 10. These tests will take place in April and all exam fees are paid for by the State of Michigan. Freshmen and sophomores will receive their college admission score as well as a remediation plan for preparing for the SAT, required their junior year. There will be more testing information throughout the school year.
If I can be of any service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
