Principal Newsletter

From the Desk of Mrs. Riley

December 14, 2017

Dear Parents,

In today's hectic world, it is challenging to remember the reason for the season but we must focus on the birth of the Baby Jesus. Please join us tomorrow at 1:00 PM in Church for a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this birth as Our Lady of Good Counsel School presents "Lessons and Carols", a Christmas Concert and Nativity Tableau.

The following are some important reminders:

  • If you would like to have your child dismissed after Lessons and Carols tomorrow, please email your child's teacher and/or send a written note into school. ALL students will return to their classrooms immediately following the show tomorrow and those being dismissed early will be called down to the main lobby. The doors will then be opened for parents to retrieve their students. In order for your child to be dismissed early, a note must have been received.
  • If you are sending in a check to school for next month's Optional Lunch, please be mindful that checks are now to be made out to the Lunch Coordinator. Please DO NOT make checks payable to OLGC School. Please refer to the Optional Lunch letter below for more information.
  • The soft deadline for the FACTS application is fast approaching. As an added incentive to filing, OLGC is going to offer a reimbursement of the $35 application fee to any family who does not qualify for the 2018-2019 school year. We have a great deal of potential money pending that will be made available to our families for next year. Families must apply in order for OLGC to utilize that money.

Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!

Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.

God's Peace,

Mrs. Barbara Riley

Big picture

Thank you so much to Mr. Frank Farry, State Representative of the 142nd Legislative District, for recognizing OLGC's new school logo with this handwritten note & attached news article. It is much appreciated!

"Virtue of the Month"

The virtue for the month of December is honesty. Honesty means telling the truth no matter what consequences you may face. An honest person does what he says he is going to do and never lies, cheats or steals. Honesty means more than not lying. Honesty means you don't say things about people that aren't true. Being honest means you admit to your actions, even if you'll get in trouble. If you see someone displaying the virtue of honesty, fill out a virtue slip for them. The winners will be announced at our next Community Homeroom.
