Student Poetry

Poem by: Jessy M.

“They’re the only ones that make sense to me”

The most beautiful songs are the saddest,

They’re the only ones that make sense to me

The most beautiful days come in the Autumn,

When the leaves change colors and fall from the trees

I am most present in these moments,

A sad nostalgia visits me

To fall in love is timeless,

A broken heart is too

To heal can take a lifetime,

sometimes it takes two

I ask myself what next

What are we to do

In this place I am now -- there is no past or future

Everything goes round and round

I’m on a carousel with the most beautiful songs

They are the only ones that make sense to me
