Reading, Writing, and Social Studies
In reading, we will be finishing up Unit 1: Fiction and Poetry. Our Unit 1 test will be Wednesday, October 4th. Students are allowed to bring their reading/writing notebooks home and this is a great resource to use as a study guide.
Next, we will begin Unit 2: Literary Nonfiction and Drama. For the remainder of the week, we will be focusing on text features and text structures. We will also explore drama and the parts of a play.
In writing, we will be working on personal narratives.
In social studies, we will continue to learn about the 13 colonies.
Math and Science
In math, we will continue learning about Order of Operations.
In science, we will be learning about Properties of Matter.
Helping at Home
Please check and sign planners nightly. If your child has homework it will be written in their planner. If they do not have assigned homework, students can work on their math facts and read for 20-30 minutes a night. Everything counts! Thank you for all you do at home!
Calendar Reminder
Monday, October 9th, 2017 is a staff and student holiday due to the observance of Columbus Day. School will resume bright and early Tuesday, October 10th at 7:25 am.
