This Is How We Lakeview
May Edition: Volume 2
Week are to our final week of the 2020-21 school year
Not sure how we are here already but this is the last week of the 2020-2021 school year. I would like to applaud the students and staff for their flexibility and adaptability this school year. We challenged everyone in ways that we could have never imagined. So take a moment to celebrate your student and thank the teachers for a job well done this year!
Friday is the last day of school and will be a 2 hour early release for the students. This means that Lakeview students will be finished at 12:10 pm on this day. Buses will be running but if you normally pick up your student after school, please be aware of this change and plan accordingly.
We have a lot of activities planned for the last few days of school. Invites went out for Academic Awards and Party on the Patio, GPA Certificates will be handed out on Tuesday, Kona Ice is here during the lunch periods on Monday (send your student with cash if they would like to make a purchase), and we are having a Pep Rally on Wednesday. Please see the articles below for more information.

Students to keep Chromebooks over the summer
Hotspots - All hotspots that were borrowed from PLSD MUST be returned to your student's media center by May 21st, 2021. (VLA students see below) Hotspots are deactivated over the summer months so that we can reimage and update them for the following school year. If you will need one for the 21-22 school year, you will need to fill out the agreement form and submit that to your student's media center once school begins in August.
VLA Hotspot Collection - We will be collecting any VLA Hotspots in a drive-through format in front of Diley Middle School from May 24 - May 28 from 9:00 AM to Noon and 1:00 - 3:00 PM.

The Community Corner
Recent Updates
- Our staff book studies are still going strong, and we’re beginning to take a look at what ideas from the books we can discuss further with the goal of turning them into action steps for our building next year. Our final book study meeting will be Tuesday, May 18th, with all book study groups combined, so we can share what we have learned about and discuss planning for next year.
In previous Community Corners, we shared what books our staff was reading for the book study. If you decided to read one of those books, too, we’d love to know! Feel free to use the Family Feedback Form to share that with us and anything that stuck out to you. We will add those ideas to our discussion for the final meeting.
As we get close to wrapping up the year, please feel free to use the Family Feedback Form to share with us any ideas/supports that you feel would add to our work to celebrate and support each and every one of our students. Whether you have ideas for Change Chat topics, Lakeview Leadership Team initiatives, community supports and/or resources, etc., we’d love to hear your ideas.
Has your student done something awesome or noteworthy? Do you want to celebrate them and their accomplishment? In future Community Corners, we hope to highlight more of our students through the Student Spotlight feature. We have updated the Family Feedback Form to include an area where you can share the details that you want to highlight about your student. Check it out!
Please see the Parent Shareout below to see what our students are saying.
