Panther Press Volume 25
Excellence,Everywhere,Everyday
Happy Easter Sunday Panther Nation!
I hope this Easter message finds you and your families staying healthy and enjoying this holiday weekend. I am sending my strongest well wishes and "positive vibes" of hope that we can get back to our old normal before the end of the year. Thanks again for supporting us in our on-line learning journey by having your kids log onto Google Classroom to complete the assignments and STILL practicing as much social distancing as possible. The safer you are now, the sooner we can get back to our everyday "normal".
I want to express my gratitude for the collective patience, flexibility, and support that you have shown the teachers and support team as we have navigated these challenging times with you. Your kind words, compliments, and feedback have been essential to our journey together. We feel blessed to be with you in supporting your family through this experience. As always, if you have thoughts, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Stay safe, find joy, and celebrate family..

Advance Academic Updates
For the 2019-20 AP EXAM ADMINISTRATION ONLY:
- College Board is developing secure 45-minute online free-response exams for each course.
- The exam content will focus on what most schools were able to complete by early March.
- You’ll be able to take your exams on any device you have access to—computer, tablet, or smartphone. You’ll also have the option to write your responses by hand and submit a photo.
- Colleges support this solution and are committed to ensuring that AP students receive the credit they have worked to earn. For decades, colleges have accepted a shortened AP Exam for college credit when groups of students have experienced emergencies.
- We know that not all students have access to the internet or a device. We’re working on solutions to help students get what they need to show their best work. If you need mobile tools or connectivity or know someone who does, you can reach College Board directly to let them know.
The exams will be secure. We’re using a variety of digital security tools, including plagiarism detection software.
Some students may want to take the exam sooner rather than later, while the content is still fresh. Other students may want more time to practice. For each AP subject, there will be two different testing dates.
The full exam schedule, specific free-response question types that will be on each AP Exam, and additional testing information are available in the link below.
Free resources will be available through exam day to help you get ready. While we encourage you to wait until closer to the test to decide, any student registered for an exam can cancel at no charge. If you choose to cancel your AP exam, please log into Total Registration and request to cancel the specific exams you wish to cancel.
Please click these links for general updates and for course specific exam information.

Attention DHS Seniors
At this time, we anticipate that Duncanville High School graduation ceremony will occur. We continue to monitor updates in public health guidance with respect for how those guidelines may impact our high school graduation ceremony. The date currently set for our graduation ceremony is still reserved at UTA.
In case the district is still closed during that date, we are working to secure an additional date this summer to accommodate our graduation.
We will keep you informed as decisions are made impacting our ability to have mass gatherings.

Remote Learning Tips
By now, you have already received work for various classes. It is really important, now more than ever to stay on top of your work. Here are a few tips to help you make your time meaningful and productive:
1. Try active study. This means asking yourself questions before, during, and after your studying. Questions such as, what do I already know about this topic, or while doing the work, what did I just read, can I paraphrase it, and then when you are done, what do I need to review before studying again.
2. Get a good night's sleep. It is really important to maintain a regular bedtime routine.
3. Study at the right time. This could be early morning or later in the day. You know yourself better than anyone, find the right time to do work.
4. Have a designated study area. This could be the kitchen table, or at a desk, if you have one. It is really important, though, to study away from the TV or other screens, such as your phone.
5. Eat properly. If you can, have snacks ready to go before you study.
6. Get chores out of the way. Many of your parents or guardians may have given you chores to do while you are at home. If this is the case, make sure they are done before studying.
7. Create a timetable. This is a fancy way of saying come up with a schedule. This means figure out how much time, and none is not an option, you need to spend on each subject. For instance, maybe you need to schedule more time for language arts, but not as much for social studies.
8. Set a timer. Your phone has one important use while you study, it has clock. If you know how, set a timer so you can keep track of your time spent on each subject.

Duncanville ISD family,
During this time when Duncanville ISD is closed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we remain committed to taking care of children, in particular those who depend on meals served at school each day.
Beginning Monday, March 23, district nutrition services staff will distribute grab-and-go lunches to all school-age children.
The child does not need to be a student in the district. The child must be present to receive a meal and there is a limit of one meal per child. The lunches will be distributed through curbside pickup at the following schools.
Meal distribution will take place starting Monday, March 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Monday through Friday.
