Foundations Pep Rally
Austin Cubs are PROUD, SAFE, RESPONSIBLE & RESPECTFUL
What are "Foundations" and PBIS? "Foundations" is the foundational common language and set of expectations we use across the building especially in our common areas like the halls, restrooms, and cafeteria. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate.
Congratulations to our 4th Graders in Ms. De La Cruz's and Ms. Grimes' classes! They won the pep rally challenge for following expectations AND their teachers won gift cards to Target! Great Job!
From the Principal
How do you appreciate your staff? How can parents show appreciation to staff at Austin who help their children?
These are questions I hear all the time from parents and community members. When surveyed, teachers across the country have identified their Top 3:
- A heartfelt note or simple "Thank you"
- Classroom items purchased from their Amazon Wish List
- Gift cards
Whether your budget is zero dollars or $20, acknowledgement of their hard work goes a long way!
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Opportunity
Did you know...Well over 90 percent of teachers spend their own money on school supplies and other items their students need to succeed. On average over $500! They also regularly work after hours to make sure parents can attend conferences and events for their students.
One way we give back to our teachers is to award them small gift cards to acknowledge something great they've done or to use as door prizes at staff development. All of these gift cards are donated to Austin from businesses, community members, and parents like you! Favorites are $5-$10 cards to local fast food restaurants or Starbucks. They also love buying things for the classroom and students with Amazon, Target or Walmart cards.
If you would like to support our teacher reward gift cards, please send, or bring, a gift card of your choice to Austin Elementary. Address it "To the Principal" or just to Mrs. Meaux. We will use them throughout the year. Thank you in advance for helping to appreciate our hard working teachers!

A Message from our Art Teachers:
Ms. Bartlett is the Box Tops for Education coordinator for our school. Money earned benefits all students as it is used for art supplies and decorating for music programs, etc. All collecting is done through a Box Tops app that can be downloaded from Google Play or Apple store. Look for a letter coming home about the Box Tops program and how it works. The ID for our school is #187770 or you can search Austin Elementary after downloading the app.
How it works:
- Buy Box Tops products, scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase and earn for Austin Elementary School with every Box Tops product you buy.
- Refer your friends, family and other parents in the school to download the app. You’ll even get Bonus Box Tops for our school with each referral that successfully scans their first receipt.
- Turn on notifications in your Box Tops app to get scan reminders and stay updated on special offers, new products and opportunities to earn for our school. Go to your Communications Settings by tapping on the person icon in the upper-right corner of the app.
Thank you very much for your support and share the word with family and friends!
