Love Summer Reading at Your Library

Don't Miss the Fun! Register your Family for Summer Reading.

Don't miss a summer full of fun, food, entertainment, and learning at your library! This year Springville Public Library will offer Summer Reading programs and activities designed for preschoolers, school aged children, teens, and adults. Official registration begins on May 22, 2018. Summer fun starts on June 6th at 10:30 when Elsa and Anna host our first summer story time. Special summer story times for children 9 years old and younger will take place every Wednesday in June and July. On June 27, children's author, Ann Dorer, will host a story time and ice cream party sponsored by Jack's Restaurant in Springville. Story time events will be at 10:30 in the Children's Annex.

On June 7, 6th Day Creatures will kick off our Summer Reading events at 11:00 at Springville First United Methodist Church. The Summer Reading program for children will take place on Thursdays in June and July and will feature programs that cover a wide variety of interests. Thursday programs are designed for all children from birth to rising ninth graders, but everyone is welcome to come!

The first of our Summer Reading Lunch and Learn series for adults will take place in the Main Library at noon on June 15th. This series will be hosted by local experts and cover topics of interest including Knitting, Couponing, Flower Arranging, Genealogy, and Cake Decorating. Please call 205-467-2339 to register.

Springville Public Library will host our first Harry Potter event for teens and tweens on June 14 at 5:00. Muggles and wizards in years 1-7 (that's rising 6-12 graders) are welcome to join in on fun!

Help your early readers avoid the summer slump by registering them for Reading Buddies Rock and Reading Readiness Programs. At Reading Buddies Rock, SPL's Teen Volunteers will lend a listening ear on June 19 and July 17 as your rising 2nd-3rd grade child practices those important summer reading skills. Children entering 3rd-4th grade can register for Back to School Reading Readiness for essential reading skills review at the summer's end, July 25-26.
